Base pay range
$235,000.00/hr - $260,000.00/hr

About the Role: As a Principal data engineer/architect, you will focus on the big picture of Intero’s data strategy. Your primary responsibility is to develop a cohesive data architecture that supports Intero’s long-term vision. You design efficient data storage structures, data models, standards, and optimize data retrieval for core product, analytics, and AI purposes. Below is our tech stack:
Tech Stack: Frontend: react.js, Backend: Python fast APIs, Data: Snowflake, GraphDB LLMs: Open-Source models (llama), Infra: AWS
What You’ll Do:
- Implement a Data lake that is aligned with the company’s vision, product and the AI strategy
- Collaborate with the engineering, product, and risk teams to define the strategic data architecture vision, roadmap, and improve processes, data detail, and business applications
- Establish guidelines, controls, and processes to make data available for developing scalable data-driven solutions for Analytics and AI
- Enforce data ingestion, integration, and access patterns to support both real-time and batch-based consumer data needs
- Implement security measures to safeguard sensitive data from unauthorized access, ensuring data privacy, and compliance with relevant regulations
- Plan and oversee data migration processes when transitioning to new data systems and platforms
- Document data architecture designs, implementations, and best practices.
- Conduct training sessions for internal teams on data architecture and Data lake best practices.
- Establish and maintain monitoring systems for data pipelines and architecture components.
- Provide timely resolution to data-related issues and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks.
- Hire and mentor data engineers
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent, with 15+ years of Data Architecture and Data Engineering experience
- Proven expertise in designing data platforms for large-scale data and diverse data architectures, including warehouses, lakehouses, and integrated data stores
- Expertise in Snowflake or Databricks
- Expertise in events classification
- Experience in using data clean rooms architecture/tools
- Experience in building a knowledge graph using GraphDB technologies such as Neo4j, Amazon’s Neptune.
- Experience with data security (including PHI and PII), as well as data privacy regulations (CCPA and GDPR)
- Ability to manage projects effectively, plan tasks, set priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Compensation
- Base Salary Range: $235,000 - $260,000 USD (depending on experience and location)
- Variable Compensation: Performance-based annual bonus
- Equity: Stock options included as part of total compensation package

Work Environment, Location and Travel:
This is a remote-first role open to candidates legally authorized to work in the United States. Employees may optionally work from our Arlington, VA HQ. This position may require up to minimal travel.
