Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world. We are hiring an experienced engineer to lead and own power system verification for our current and next-generation spacecraft, covering the full satellite product lifecycle from design through on-orbit operations.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws, candidates must be U.S. citizens or nationals, U.S. permanent residents (Green Card holders), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as refugees or granted asylum.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with system engineers to create verification matrices, defining test coverage across all venues including hardware-in-the-loop and acceptance testing.
  • Develop test plans and procedures based on power system design requirements.
  • Define and develop test systems and venues to meet verification goals, including hardware-in-the-loop test beds.
  • Lead system-level verification testing and support production testing teams.
  • Drive test readiness reviews and review verification and qualification test results with cross-team leaders.
  • Serve as a technical leader and mentor, promoting best practices across the development and testing lifecycle.

About the Role:

You will oversee development and validation of satellite electrical power systems, developing comprehensive test plans, leading hardware-in-the-loop testing, and ensuring high standards. As a senior team member, you will also serve as a technical role model, fostering best practices within the team.

Team Environment:

You will work with top engineers across spacecraft design and integration teams, tackling complex problems with high standards, seeking continuous improvement, and pushing the boundaries of current technology.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience in developing specifications, verification plans, and test procedures.
  • BS in electrical engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years in power systems design or systems architecture.
  • Experience with complex power systems design.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in electrical or related engineering.
  • Leadership experience in interdisciplinary teams.
  • Experience with hardware-in-the-loop testing in aerospace or automotive sectors.
  • System verification experience in power conversion, batteries, solar, satellites, or rockets.
  • Proficiency in requirements derivation, modeling, simulation, and scripting (Python, C/C++).
  • Strong communication skills for cross-organizational collaboration.
