JOB SUMMARY
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with power circuits validation requirements.
- Experience creating validation plans.
- Experience in electronic system bring-up and debugging process, power circuit components electric specifications, and selection.
Preferred qualification:
- Master’s degree in Power Electronics.
- Knowledge of switching mode power supplies and various topologies:
- buck converter
- boost converter
- PFC converter
- Flyback converter
- full bridge/half bridge converter
- LLC converter, etc.
- 3 to 10 years of experience in server power supply or consumer/home electronics power system design.
- PSU validation on server/storage integration tests.
- Familiarity with Intel CRPS PSU specifications.
- Familiarity with server architecture and physical assembly.
- Familiarity with Linux instructions (Ubuntu, ONTAP, etc.) for system stress testing.
Job description & Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with major AC/DC PSU vendors (e.g., Delta, Lite-on, Artesyn) to find off-the-shelf or customized PSUs based on project requirements, from kick-off to mass production.
- Propose various PSU options to System Architect or customers considering performance, product maturity, cost, delivery schedule, supplier support, and second source availability.
- Qualify PSUs at the FRU and system levels, debug issues with internal teams, and coordinate with vendors.
- For customized PSUs, develop detailed AC/DC requirements, conduct PoC & RFQ with vendors, and select suppliers considering technical and commercial factors.
- Review technical proposals, schematics, layouts, test plans, and reports from vendors.
- Define PSU requirements based on system needs (power range, input/output voltage, efficiency, redundancy, form factor, telemetry, communication protocols).
- Collaborate with customer power teams on technical discussions related to PSUs.
- Support DC/DC design for motherboards, power distribution, midplanes, and baseboards as needed.
