Sr. Web Platform Engineer – F5, NGINX

Sr. Web Platform Engineer will work as part of the enterprise digital platform delivery group, focusing on migrating Load Balancer Configurations from F5 BIG-IP LTM to NGINX Plus. Responsibilities include solution design, configuration, and troubleshooting of load balancing, caching, and reverse proxy infrastructure on the NGINX / NGINX Plus platform. The role involves reviewing F5 iRules and translating them into NGINX configurations for deployment. Additionally, the engineer will support the design and delivery of a scalable Content Distribution Platform using NGINX/Nginx+ caching, cache management, reverse proxy, web functions, and multi-cloud middleware integration, in conjunction with Adobe AEM dispatches and publishers (Apache, WebSphere, App Servers/gateways, F5, WAFs).

Responsibilities

1. Redesign and migrate load balancer configurations from F5/iRules to NGINX Plus.
2. Configure NGINX caching for dynamic load balancing, high performance, and traffic optimization.
3. Engineer NGINX load balancing and caching solutions for content delivery, utilizing hierarchical caching, intelligent routing, and self-monitoring.
4. Leverage NGINX, NGINX+, Azure Autoscaling, WebSphere, Apache, IIS, F5, Firewalls, WAF, and application gateways.
5. Design platform automation and integration using scripting languages such as Python, Groovy, and Ansible.
6. Integrate middleware components including SSL/TLS certificates, firewalls, web and proxy servers with NGINX, WebSphere, F5, and other tools.
7. Develop a scalable, secure Content Delivery Caching framework supporting Adobe Experience Manager assets.
8. Troubleshoot platform security issues involving SSL, firewalls, WAFs, and proxies.
9. Design, develop, test, and deliver resilient, high-performance platform solutions.
10. Document work and mentor team members on platform use.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, CIS, or related field.
2. 8+ years of experience in cloud platforms, DevOps, Systems Engineering, Middleware, or Performance Engineering.
3. Experience with production deployment of NGINX / NGINX+.
4. Strong experience with load balancing using NGINX+ and F5 BIG-IP, including iRules, ADC, CLI, and iControl.
5. Prior experience migrating load balancers from F5 to NGINX+ is highly desired.
6. Expertise in optimizing NGINX performance and supporting high-traffic environments.
7. Experience with NGINX cache manager and caching architecture.
8. Experience building scalable frameworks with NGINX and cloud platforms such as Azure.
9. Proficiency in Python and Ansible is a plus.
10. Experience with Kubernetes or AKS in Azure is a plus.
11. Experience with auto-scaling and CI/CD automation in Azure is a plus.
12. Experience with Adobe AEM is a plus.

This is a 2+ year contract role with ITmPowered. Work remotely nationwide. Conversion to permanent employment may be possible for eligible candidates living in CA, CO, WA, OR, GA, VA, MD, DC, HI.
