Job summary

NextDecade is seeking a Sr. Planner Maintenance - Electrical to design and manage detailed maintenance plans for a safe, reliable LNG facility in Texas.

You will lead preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance planning with emphasis on safety and compliance, working with cross-functional teams to optimize downtime and costs. The role requires 7–10 years in LNG/oil & gas maintenance planning, strong CMMS and scheduling tool experience, and the ability to interpret P&IDs and drawings for

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 7–10 years in maintenance planning within LNG/oil & gas/petrochemical/nuclear.
  • Hands-on experience with CMMS and scheduling software (SAP 4 HANA, Prometheus, Primavera, MS Project).
  • Strong knowledge of LNG facility maintenance practices and drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed work plans for maintenance activities with scope, labor, materials, tools.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, maintenance execution, procurement.
  • Manage planning log to meet business priorities.
  • Plan manpower, materials, and tools for tasks; optimize allocation.

Summary Of The Role

The Sr. Planner Maintenance - Electrical is responsible for developing and managing detailed maintenance plans to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of an LNG facility. This role involves detailed task planning for preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities while ensuring compliance with Next Decade safety and industry standards. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in maintenance planning and work management processes in an LNG or similar industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed work plans for maintenance activities, including scope, labor estimates, materials, tools, and special equipment and access requirements.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, maintenance execution and procurement teams to ensure smooth execution of maintenance plans.
  • Manage an assigned log of planning work in a way that ensures business priorities are met.
  • Plan and optimize the allocation of manpower, materials, and tools for maintenance tasks.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce downtime and improve cost efficiency through effective planning.
  • Ensure spare parts and materials are planned and available before maintenance tasks are required to be scheduled.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities comply with industry standards (e.g., API, ASME, NFPA) and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in safety reviews, including risk assessments and job hazard analysis.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance history and performance in the CMMS.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, recommend improvements, and support reliability initiatives.
Basic Requirements
EDUCATION, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, & COMPETENCIES
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Direct hands-on experience in Electrical or Instrumentation work is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in maintenance planning within the LNG, oil & gas, petrochemical, or nuclear industry.
  • Proven experience with CMMS tools (Preferably SAP 4 HANA and Prometheus) and scheduling software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project).
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance practices, work processes, and equipment used in LNG facilities.
  • Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solv ing skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
Preferred Requirements
  • Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) or equivalent.
  • HSE certifications (e.g., OSHA, Confined Space Entry).
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis (RCA), reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), and failure modes analysis (FMEA).
Site Working Conditions & Physical Expectations
Work Environment
  • Must be able to wear all necessary PPE equipment to perform job functions.
  • Operates in a complex construction environment.
  • Exposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Not necessarily protected from weather and temperature changes. Possible exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy weather conditions.
  • Exposure to moving mechanical parts and electrical circuits.
  • Exposure to constant or intermittent sounds of a pitch level sufficient to cause marked distraction.
  • Routinely uses standard office and field communications equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers w/scanner and fax, and radios.
Able to meet the following physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations:
  • Ability to drive to other Company work locations as required.
  • Ability to move throughout all areas of the facility, including being physically capable of traveling to a designed muster point during emergency situations.
  • Stand and/or sit continuously and perform job functions for a full shift.
  • The incumbent is required to have fully mechanical motion and usage of all extremities.
  • Physically able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, twist, lift, push, pull, climb, balance, crouch, handle, and lift items weighing up to 20 lbs. without assistance.
  • Visual acuity corrected to perform job functions. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to clearly communicate with others via radio, phone, and verbal methods.
  • May be required to enter confined spaces.
  • May be required to work at elevated heights and access elevated structures without assistance.
