Job summary

NextDecade Corporation seeks a Sr. Planner Maintenance – Electrical to develop and manage detailed maintenance plans for a safe, reliable LNG facility near Brownsville, Texas.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Direct hands-on experience in Electrical or Instrumentation work strongly preferred.
• Minimum 7-10 years of maintenance planning experience in LNG/oil & gas/petrochemical/nuclear industries.
• Experience with CMMS tools (SAP S/4HANA, Prometheus) and scheduling software (Primavera, MS Project).
• Strong knowledge of LNG facility maintenance practices and equipment.
• Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, P&IDs, and manuals.
• CMRP or equivalent certification.
• HSE certifications (OSHA, Confined Space).
• Knowledge of RCA, RCM, and FMEA.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed work plans for maintenance activities with scope, labor, materials, tools and access needs.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, maintenance execution and procurement teams for plan delivery.
• Manage planning work logs to meet business priorities.
• Plan and optimize manpower, materials, and tools for tasks.
• Identify opportunities to reduce downtime and improve cost efficiency.
• Ensure spare parts and materials are available before scheduling tasks.
• Ensure compliance with API, ASME, NFPA and regulatory standards.
• Participate in safety reviews including risk assessments and JHA.
• Maintain accurate maintenance history in CMMS and report performance.

Summary of the Role

Sr. Planner Maintenance – Electrical is responsible for developing and managing detailed maintenance plans to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of an LNG facility. The role involves detailed task planning for preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities while ensuring compliance with NextDecade safety and industry standards. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in maintenance planning and work management processes in an LNG or similar industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed work plans for maintenance activities, including scope, labor estimates, materials, tools, and special equipment and access requirements.
• Collaborate with operations, engineering, maintenance execution and procurement teams to ensure smooth execution of maintenance plans.
• Manage an assigned log of planning work in a way that ensures business priorities are met.
• Plan and optimize the allocation of manpower, materials, and tools for maintenance tasks.
• Identify opportunities to reduce downtime and improve cost efficiency through effective planning.
• Ensure spare parts and materials are planned and available before maintenance tasks are required to be scheduled.
• Ensure all maintenance activities comply with industry standards (e.g., API, ASME, NFPA) and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in safety reviews, including risk assessments and job hazard analysis.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance history and performance in the CMMS.
• Analyze data to identify trends, recommend improvements, and support reliability initiatives.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Direct hands‑on experience in Electrical or Instrumentation work is strongly preferred.
• Minimum 7-10 years of experience in maintenance planning within the LNG, oil & gas, petrochemical, or nuclear industry.
• Proven experience with CMMS tools (preferably SAP 4 HANA and Prometheus) and scheduling software (e.g., Primavera, MS Project).
• Strong knowledge of maintenance practices, work processes, and equipment used in LNG facilities.
• Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written) with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
• Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP) or equivalent.
• HSE certifications (e.g., OSHA, Confined Space Entry).
• Knowledge of root cause analysis (RCA), reliability‑centered maintenance (RCM), and failure modes analysis (FMEA).

Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment with occasional work within or outside of a complex construction environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers/fax, filing cabinets, etc. This is primarily a sedentary role; however, the incumbent must be able to stand and/or sit continuously to perform all essential job functions for a full shift.

Physical Demands

• Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. as required to lift files, boxes and office equipment.
• Ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, bend, stand on a stool, or climb as necessary.
• While performing the duties of this role, the incumbent may be required to talk or hear.
• The incumbent is required to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
• Ability to move throughout all areas of each office/site location and facilities.
• Able to wear all necessary PPE equipment to perform job functions.
