EDG Inc. in Houston seeks a Sr. Piping Drafter/Designer to join the Drafting department.

You will prepare layout and design for offshore and onshore piping systems using 2D and 3D modeling software, collaborating with engineers to resolve design issues and ensure adherence to standards. The role requires accredited drafting training and 10+ years in upstream/downstream piping projects, strong knowledge of ASME/ANSI/API standards, and proficiency with AutoCAD, Plant3D, Navisworks and PDMS;

Qualifications

  • Accredited drafting training with oil & gas experience.
  • 10+ years piping drafting and design experience in upstream/downstream facilities.
  • Onshore plant layout design experience.
  • Knowledge of ASME, ANSI, API RP/ specs and OSHA standards.
  • Familiar with AWS Welding Symbols and AISC Manual.
  • MS Office Suite proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Proficient with design software i.e. AutoCAD, Plant3D, Navisworks, PDMS.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers in resolving piping design issues.
  • Create drawings for projects from provided information with minimal supervision.
  • Keep supervisors updated on concerns related to assignments.
  • Ensure drawings adhere to drafting standards and industry design standards.
  • Create and modify GA, P&IDs, 3D models, piping plans, sections, details and isometrics.
  • Create material lists and track progress on drawings.
  • Be available for site and vendor visits as required.
  • Perform other project duties as assigned.

JobSummary:

The Piping Designer/Drafter will be responsible for preparinglayout and design of complex offshore/onshore piping design systems using 2Dand 3D modeling software.

JobDuties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist engineers and designers in resolvingpiping design issues;
  • Create drawings for assigned projects frominformation supplied and/or verbal instructions with little or no supervisionrequired;
  • Responsible for keeping their directsupervisors updated on any and all concerns relating to their respectiveassignments and discipline;
  • Ensure that all drawings adhere to client, and/orcompany Drafting Standards;
  • Ensure that all drawings adhere to client,company and/or industry Design Standards;
  • Create and/or perform corrections to thefollowing drawings: General Arrangements, P&IDs, 3D Model, Piping Plans,Piping Sections, Details, and Isometric Spools;
  • Create Material List;
  • Track progress on own drawings assignments;
  • Be available for site and vendor visits asrequired;
  • Other various project responsibilities asrequired.

Qualifications(Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  • Requires accredited drafting training anddiscipline training or have prior working experience;
  • Requires a 10 or more years experience ofpiping drafting and design experience relating to Upstream and Downstream Oil& Gas facilities;
  • Onshore plant layout design experiencerequired;
  • Must have working knowledge of ASME, ANSI, APIRP 14C, API RP 14E, API Spec 6A and OSHA standards;
  • Must be familiar with AWS Welding Symbols andAISC Manual;
  • Must have working knowledge of MS Office Suiteof products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook);
  • Proficient with design software i.e. (AutoCAD,Autodesk PLANT3D, Navisworks, and PDMS);
  • Must have working knowledge of P&IDs,General Arrangements, Piping Plans Sections and Details, Pipe Supports andIsometrics;
  • Familiarity with project systems to includecivil, structural, mechanical, and electrical components to allowconsiderations of those aspects into piping design as required;
  • Ability and availability to work occasionalovertime to include weekends as dictated by project requirements;
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff.

WorkingConditions:

  • Work is primarily conducted in an officeenvironment (Private or Semi-Private office) but also requires occasionaltravel to off-site work locations.
  • Field duties require outdoor work in a plantor offshore platform atmosphere;
  • Interaction with other team members, as wellas supervisors and client personnel;
  • Working offshore or in plant and/or shop areasaround production machinery with extreme noise levels;
  • Must be able to wear safety equipment asrequired by the safety department for personal protection;
  • May be at more than one job site in a day andmust be able to tolerate climate changes;
  • May be required to travel out of town on aperiodic basis.
