Job summary

EDG Inc. in Houston, TX, is seeking a Piping Designer/Drafter to prepare layout and design of complex offshore and onshore piping systems using 2D and 3D modeling software.

You will assist engineers, create GA, P&ID, 3D models, Piping Plans and Isometrics, compile material lists, track progress, and travel to sites or vendors as required.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of piping drafting experience in Oil & Gas and strong knowledge of ASME/ANSI/API standards and PDMS, Plant3D, Navisworks.

Qualifications

  • Requires accredited drafting training and discipline training or have prior working experience.
  • Requires a 10 or more years’ experience of piping drafting and design experience relating to Upstream and Downstream Oil & Gas facilities.
  • Must have working knowledge of ASME, ANSI, API RP 14C, API RP 14E, API Spec 6A and OSHA standards.
  • Must be familiar with AWS Welding Symbols and AISC Manual.
  • Must have working knowledge of MS Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Proficient with design software i.e. (AutoCAD, Autodesk PLANT3D, Navisworks, and PDMS).
  • Must have working knowledge of P&ID’s, General Arrangements, Piping Plans Sections and Details, Pipe Supports and Isometrics.
  • Familiarity with project systems to include civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical components to allow considerations of those aspects into piping design as required.
  • Ability and availability to work occasional overtime to include weekends as dictated by project requirements.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of staff.

Responsibilities

  • Create Material List.

Working Conditions
  • Work is primarily conducted in an office environment (Private or Semi-Private office) but also requires occasional travel to off-site work locations.
  • Field duties require outdoor work in a plant or offshore platform atmosphere;
  • Interaction with other team members, as well as supervisors and client personnel;
  • Working offshore or in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery with extreme noise levels;
  • Must be able to wear safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal protection;
  • May be at more than one job site in a day and must be able to tolerate climate changes;
  • May be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.
Physical Requirements (With or without Reasonable Accommodation):
  • Must be able to lift and carry twenty (20) pounds;
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities which permits employee to communicate effectively;
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time;

  • Sufficient manual dexterity which permit the employee to perform routine office duties;
