Sr Piping Designer – ConsultNet

Position Overview

Title: Sr Piping Designer
Location: Houston, TX or Salt Lake City, UT
Duration: Contract-Direct, Long-term
Pay Range: $50‑$60/hr DOE

Job Responsibilities

• Use CAD software to prepare sketches and detailed design drawings for the Mechanical Department.
• Prepare and/or revise drawings, sketches and layouts of single units, parts, or components as directed.
• Consolidate detail from a number of sources, adjust or transpose scale, or make simple calculations.
• Perform drafting duties with a client's operating facility or in the field to support construction projects.

Job Requirements

• Associate’s degree or a two‑year college or technical school training in Computer Aided Design and Computer Drafting.
• 8+ years of work experience in Computer Drafting, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and CADWorx.
• Ability to read and comprehend P&ID’s and piping drawings.
• Knowledge of appropriate use of pipe fittings and materials in industrial applications.
• Ability to identify pipe components and symbols required to create piping drawings.
• Excellent understanding of 3‑dimensional modeling.
• Ability to identify piping system mistakes and inconsistencies on drawings.
• Working knowledge of pipe specifications and their applications.
• Team player with strong oral and written communication skills.
• Can travel to client sites, possibly on relatively short notice.
• United States citizen able to meet background checks required by TWIC.

Preferred Qualifications

• College or high school courses in Engineering Math, Physics and Technical Writing.
• Consulting engineering work experience (Piping, Mechanical).
• 8+ years collective field experience with piping and mechanical construction projects.
