Job summary

Nokia is advancing high-speed optical connectivity. In the Optical Module Group, you will help build PIC production test capability, collaborating across PIC design, reliability, and fab operations in a fast-paced environment.

The role focuses on delivering test capacity, driving tester qualification, and improving test infrastructure with cross-functional partners in Nokia’s South San Francisco Bay area facilities.

Qualifications

  • Strong background in optoelectronic device characterization, especially waveguide-based devices.
  • Experience programming automated test routines using LabVIEW or similar languages (C, C++, Python).
  • Ability to document complex test methods and results clearly.

Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of production PIC test capacity and capability; own qualifications for PIC testers.
  • Participate in QRB meetings, issue and track CNs for test infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with PIC design, fab process, and module design teams to improve test efficiency and capacity.

Job Description

We are leveraging advanced Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) to meet the exploding demand for high-speed transmission infrastructure. With proven leadership and cutting-edge technology, Nokia is defining the next generation of connectivity solutions. The Optical Module Group within Nokia ON group is seeking talented engineers to develop PIC production test capability. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including PIC/component design, PIC Reliability, production engineering, Fab operation. How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn


  • Lead the efforts delivering production PIC test capacity and capability. Owns PIC testers qualification process.

  • Lead with technical excellence, participate in production test related engineering Quality Review Board (QRB) activities, issue and execute engineering Change Notices (CNs).

  • Lead cross-functional team efforts to improve test efficiency, capability and capacity of existing test infrastructure. Interact closely with multiple teams, including but not limited to PIC design, Fab process, and Module design teams.

  • Work in Nokia South San Francisco Bay facility.



Key Skills And Experience

We are looking for an individual with a strong background in optoelectronic device characterization:



  • Understanding of active and passive semiconductor optical devices, particularly waveguide-based devices

  • Programming experience in LabView, C, C++, Python, VB.net or similar for automation of instrument control and data acquisition

  • Strong drive to build, maintain, and troubleshoot complex test hardware and software in a cross-functional environment. Candidate with related industry experience is preferred

  • Attention to detail and willingness to produce detailed documentation

  • Ability to work well in cross-functional development teams, as well as excellent oral and written communication skills



Education / Experience

PhD graduates or Master's degree with 3+ years of industry experience, in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or equivalent with minimum of 3 years of applicable graduate-level and/or industrial experience in optical communications, photonics, high speed electronics or systems.
