Here's a Summary Of Responsibilities
The Senior Performance Advisor is responsible for leading the execution of strategic initiatives that advance Team USA medal potential in Olympic and Paralympic sports. This position develops frameworks and standards to drive performance planning, interdisciplinary service integration, and partner collaboration with National Governing Bodies (NGBs). The Senior Performance Advisor works under the direction of the Director, Summer Sport Performance, contributing to the implementation of performance strategies while managing day-to-day execution across assigned sports.
This role requires a high degree of collaboration with NGB leaders and USOPC colleagues to ensure alignment with broader high performance objectives. The Senior Performance Advisor plays a key role in supporting performance plan development and monitoring progress toward key outcomes while providing guidance, insight, and technical support consistent with USOPC and department priorities.
Here’s How You’ll Have An Impact
Strategic Execution & Alignment – 25%
- Under the direction of Director, Summer Sport Performance, support the implementation of identified high performance strategies and initiatives in support of Team USA.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on behalf of Sport Performance in department priorities, as well as assigned performance areas.
- In partnership with High Performance Directors, collaborate with peers to annually review and revise Sport Performance strategic plans that ensure team goals are met across Olympic and Paralympic programs.
- Ensure that program execution aligns with broader USOPC high performance strategy and contributes to continuous medal potential improvement. Identify performance trends, organizational risks, and systemic improvement opportunities in service of the USOPC’s broader mission.
- Develop systems to monitor and evaluate progress against department strategies and high impact initiatives.
NGB & Partner Collaboration – 25%
- Serve as the primary performance contact, internally and externally, for group of complex, high medal potential and availability NGBs, ensuring consistent and collaborative relationships to advance high performance goals.
- Review and evaluate High Performance Plans submitted by NGBs and provide recommendations to support alignment with organizational strategy, resource priorities, and international best practices. Align recommendations to greatest opportunities to increase medal attainment.
- Assess the high performance capabilities, needs, and opportunities of assigned NGBs and provide recommendations to support performance objectives.
- Teach, train, consult, and collaborate with NGB high performance staff members to drive successful implementation of the high performance plan.
- Facilitate coordination across internal performance stakeholders to support the integration of USOPC services within NGB performance environments.
- Ensure internal processes for assigned NGBs (resource allocation, OPTC request evaluation, EAHI, athlete stipend, funding agreements, etc.) are completed thoroughly and on time.
Games Planning & Execution – 20%
- Partner with assigned NGBs to develop NGB-specific Olympic and Paralympic Games performance plans.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure performance needs are elevated and met as part of the overall USOPC performance support plan at Olympic, Paralympic, Pan American, and Parapan American Games.
- Perform key Games roles assignments and assist with site visits and organizing committee meetings as necessary.
Resource Allocation & Review – 20%
- Review, assess, and recommend support and funding of assigned NGB high performance plans.
- Monitor and evaluate delivery of resources (e.g., financial, technical, and facility-based) to ensure alignment with identified priorities.
Operational Reporting & Communication – 10%
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of NGB engagement, plan progress, and outcomes across assigned sports.
- Ensure consistent use of established performance metrics, benchmarks, and reporting tools. Provide regular updates, reports, and insights to the Senior Director to support resource planning, and organizational decision-making.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid passport
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- 8+ years’ experience with Olympic or Paralympic sport programs serving in performance leadership, performance science, coaching, and/or team management roles
- NGB, collegiate, and/or professional sport experience
- Commitment to the mission and philosophy of the USOPC
- Excellent teamwork with the ability to work collaboratively across teams to achieve mission and goals

- Standard office equipment
- Office environment in a multi-story building on a multi-building site
- Domestic and international travel required; extensive travel is possible based on specific assignments
- Non-traditional and extensive hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to successfully work in a multi-lingual, multi-cultural office environment
- Ability to successfully work/live in non-traditional environments at Games or meeting sites (including shared rooms)
- Physically demanding and strenuous environment during travel and Games (lifting up to 40 pounds, walking up to 15 miles/day, minimal sleep, etc.)

Here's Some More Information You Need To Know
- Hiring pay range $100,000 - $114,000 per year.
- This Full-Time, Exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
- Bonus: This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program, which has a 15% target. The USOPC may change or eliminate this program at any time at its sole discretion.
