Position Summary

The Sr. Payroll Tax Analyst will be part of the North America payroll team, responsible for delivering accurate and timely pay, focusing on payroll tax compliance and liaising with tax authorities to resolve payroll-related tax issues. This role supports payroll processing activities and plays a key part in global payroll transformation initiatives, partnering with US and international teams.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Ensure compliance with payroll tax reporting and withholding responsibilities.
  2. Conduct payroll tax audits to verify compliance with tax and labor laws, including W-2 reconciliations.
  3. Research and troubleshoot complex payroll tax issues to identify root causes and solutions.
  4. Manage data, systems, and processes to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  5. Liaise with tax authorities to resolve payroll tax issues promptly.
  6. Draft reports, audits, budgets, and schedules to improve payroll effectiveness.
  7. Organize compliance training and communicate updates on tax policies.
  8. Test and validate Workday updates for tax compliance.
  9. Respond to employee tax queries in partnership with HR.
  10. Drive improvements, automation, and employee experience enhancements.
  11. Support audit inquiries with necessary tax data.
  12. Coordinate with third-party providers for tax filing and reporting.
  13. Maintain tax rate updates within payroll systems.
  14. Assist with registration applications for state and local tax IDs.
  15. Support payroll team during peak times or absences.
  16. Partner with the GL team to resolve payroll variances.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field.
  • Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
  • 8+ years of experience as a Payroll Analyst or similar role.
  • Experience with U.S. Workday payroll system (highly preferred).
  • Knowledge of state payroll regulations and tax laws.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with payroll policies and tax regulations.
  • Certifications like CPP, CPM, or FPC are preferred but not required.
