Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant discipline.
  • 6+ years of payroll and timekeeping or accounting/finance experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Excel at an intermediate level.
  • Experience with ADP payroll software and confidentiality in handling sensitive data.

Responsibilities

  • Process multi-state payrolls timely and accurately with HR collaboration.
  • Maintain payroll records including new hires, payroll changes, fringe benefits, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide high level of customer service and resolve payroll/timekeeping issues.
  • Enroll new hourly employees in timekeeping systems and train approvers.

Sr. Payroll Specialist

Full-Time Alachua, FL, US

Salary: $90,000.00 Annually

Location: Alachua, FL, West Lafayette, IN, Eden Prairie, MN or Remote

Bonus: Up to $10,000

The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of multi-state payroll while maintaining compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This role serves as a trusted resource for employees, leaders, and business partners by providing payroll expertise, resolving complex issues, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a customer-focused approach to deliver exceptional payroll operations and customer service.

Key Responsibilities -
  • Processes multi-state payrolls timely and accurately by coordinating with HR to ensure accurate processing and maintenance of data while maintaining a high level of confidentiality
  • Processes and maintains payroll records including but not limited to new hire information, payroll changes, fringe benefit disbursements in accordance with company policy, regulatory requirements, and governmental requirements
  • Provides high level of customer service to all levels of the organization by troubleshooting and escalating payroll and timekeeping issues
  • Enrolls all newly hired hourly employees in the timekeeping system and trains timecard approvers in reviewing and approving timecards within payroll deadlines
  • Prepares, reviews and analyzes reports to maintain documentation of payroll activities and conducts appropriate audits to ensure data integrity
  • Oversees system entries and general ledger activity related to payroll functions
  • Identifies and implements system and process improvements and documents workflow and work procedures
  • Advices Finance leadership on complex payroll issues
  • Provides guidance to employees regarding state and federal tax issues and calculations
  • May mentor and train other team members
  • Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Education -

Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline

Experience

6+ years of experience in payroll and timekeeping or accounting and finance
