About This Role

The Senior Painter at Textron Systems will be responsible for surface preparation, applying protective and/or decorative prime, finish paint coatings, and spall liners, with a focus on quality. The Senior Painter will work independently on complex paint jobs and surface preparation, and assist junior painters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Determine areas of parts, assemblies, and equipment to be painted, including the type and color of paint, following instructions and specifications.
  • Perform surface preparation such as media blasting, sanding, cleaning, and masking.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate paint spraying equipment and drying ovens, maintaining coating thickness as per specifications.
  • Perform spray booth painting on various assemblies, typically in small batches.
  • Install spall liners, including adhesive mixing and preparation.
  • Mix and apply primers and paints; clean and maintain all painting equipment and systems.
  • Collaborate with internal customers and external vendors regarding processes and products.
  • Practice FOD control (keep work areas clean).
  • Follow OSHA and Textron safety rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management to support company goals.
Physical Requirements
  • Pass a painters' physical/respirator test.
  • Ability to stoop, bend, kneel, squat, and lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs).
  • Stand, sit, walk, and perform repetitive motions.
  • Visual acuity for color matching.
Work Environment
  • Exposure to paint fumes, dust, dirt, and varying temperatures and humidity.
Qualifications
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Knowledge of paints, adhesives, and surface prep materials.
  • Ability to interpret instructions, drawings, and specifications.
  • Shop math skills, including ratios.
  • Proficiency with linear measuring tools and paint equipment such as Pressure Pot and HVLP spray guns.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks independently and operate a computer for job recording.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
Education and Experience
  • Four years of experience in a commercial/industrial painting environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
