Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Origination Manager based in United States.

This is a senior commercial role focused on turning utility-scale renewable energy projects into contracted, revenue-generating assets.
You will lead customer engagement, commercialization strategy, and Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) negotiations across major U.S. power markets.
The role combines market intelligence, business development, bid management, commercial structuring, and contract execution.
You will build strategic relationships with utilities, municipalities, cooperatives, and corporate energy buyers.
Working closely with development, finance, engineering, legal, and other teams, you will help position projects for successful offtake.
The position offers significant ownership in a fast-paced, evolving renewable energy environment where commercial decisions directly influence growth.
This is a remote opportunity within the Eastern U.S. with up to 30% travel to customers and industry partners.

Accountabilities:
  • Monitor power market fundamentals, customer demand, procurement activity, and regulatory developments to identify commercial opportunities and inform market strategy.
  • Develop commercial analyses, theses, presentations, and recommendations to support senior leadership decisions regarding development and acquisition opportunities.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with utilities, municipalities, cooperatives, load-serving entities, and corporate offtakers.
  • Develop marketing materials and initiate bilateral discussions with potential buyers regarding renewable energy offtake opportunities.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of bid packages for RFPs, RFIs, and other procurement opportunities involving utility-scale solar, storage, and hybrid projects.
  • Own the PPA negotiation process from proposal development and initial term sheets through final contract execution.
  • Serve as the primary commercial contact for PPA counterparties, leading negotiations and coordinating the resolution of commercial and contractual issues.
  • Partner with development, interconnection, finance, engineering, construction, battery storage, operations, asset management, insurance, and legal teams to develop negotiation strategies and resolve issues.
  • Structure commercial terms creatively to mitigate risks outside the organization’s direct control and maximize project value.
  • Prepare high-quality memoranda, strategy presentations, and board materials to support governance and investment review processes.
  • Maintain strong coordination across internal and external stakeholders while keeping projects aligned with commercial objectives, timelines, and execution requirements.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in energy markets, or 7 years of experience working on utility-scale renewable energy projects.
  • Familiarity with key concepts and commercial structures associated with renewable energy Power Purchase Agreements.
  • Experience managing solar, wind, or battery storage PPA negotiations from the bid stage through execution is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Eastern U.S. power market design is preferred, particularly across markets such as ERCOT, MISO, PJM, SERC, and ISO-NE.
  • Experience evaluating the quantitative implications of PPA provisions, including curtailment, LMP basis, battery charging restrictions, and real-time versus day-ahead bidding strategies, is preferred.
  • Familiarity with power procurement regulatory processes such as integrated resource plans, renewable portfolio standards, and rate cases is advantageous.
  • Strong ability to read, understand, analyze, and negotiate legal and commercial contracts.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to clearly present complex commercial issues and recommendations.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate effectively with cross-functional teams of technical, financial, legal, operational, and commercial experts.
  • Partnership-oriented approach with strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented while maintaining a clear understanding of broader commercial and strategic objectives.
  • Self-directed, proactive, and comfortable taking ownership in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
  • Strong commercial judgment, integrity, accountability, and a consistent focus on creating value.
  • Passion for renewable energy and the broader transition to alternative energy sources.
  • Eastern U.S. residence is strongly preferred, with established regional relationships considered a plus.
  • Ability to travel up to 30% to meet customers, partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States; employment visa sponsorship is not available.
Benefits:
  • Base compensation and opportunities for merit-based salary increases.
  • Eligibility to participate in an incentive compensation plan.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Life and disability insurance coverage.
  • 18 vacation days accrued during the first year, along with paid holidays.
  • Paid volunteer time to support community engagement.
  • Paid parental leave to support employees and families.
  • Remote work environment with flexibility for employees based in the United States.
  • A collaborative, mission-driven environment focused on renewable energy and the transition to a cleaner energy future.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and a supportive workplace where employees can contribute and grow.
