Job summary

IDR, Inc. is seeking a Sr Oracle DBA in Raleigh, NC to lead the migration of large Oracle 19c databases to Exadata in AWS. The role focuses on optimizing, administering, and supporting Exadata platforms across development, test, and production environments to ensure high performance and reliability.

Qualifications

• 7+ years deep understanding of Oracle Exadata architecture including storage cells, InfiniBand networking, Smart Scan and HCC
• 7+ years managing ASM storage and monitoring ASM disk groups
• 5+ years troubleshooting complex issues across database, OS, and Exadata storage components
• 5+ years strong SQL writing skills
• 5+ years on-call rotation and weekend work
• 3+ years applying Exadata storage cell, compute node, and firmware patches, DBRU/Release Updates

Responsibilities

• Lead the migration of large Oracle 19c databases (100+ TB) from standard AWS environments to Oracle Exadata in AWS.
• Optimize, administer, and support Exadata platforms across development, test, and production environments to ensure high performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Collaborate with client teams to ensure smooth cutovers, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance of Exadata systems.

Position Overview for the Sr Oracle DBA:

• A client of IDR is seeking an experienced Oracle Exadata DBA to lead the migration of large Oracle 19c databases (100+ TB) from standard AWS environments to Oracle Exadata in AWS. This role is responsible for optimizing, administering, and supporting Exadata platforms across development, test, and production environments, ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability for a large portfolio of applications.

Required Skills for the Sr Oracle DBA:

• 7+ years deep understanding of Oracle Exadata architecture, including storage cells, InfiniBand networking, Smart Scan and Hybrid Columnar Compression (HCC)
• 7+ years managing storage using Oracle Automatic Storage Management (ASM) and monitoring ASM disk groups
• 5+ years troubleshooting complex issues across database, OS, and Exadata storage components
• 5+ years strong SQL writing skills
• 5+ years participating in on-call rotation and weekend work
• 3+ years applying Exadata storage cell, compute node, and firmware patches, along with database-level PSU/DBRU/Release Updates
