Overview

Position: Senior Oracle 11g/12c Spatial DBA

Location: Lansing, MI

Duration: 12 months

Responsibilities

• Experience with Oracle Spatial
• Provide support for growing Oracle Spatial needs, including installation, tuning and trouble shooting
• Assist in the implementation of Oracle Statewide Standards
• Working knowledge of DDL, DML, PL/SQL, stored procedures, triggers, views, constraints and cursors
• Proficiency with Oracle performance tuning
• Proficiency with database backup and recovery using Oracle RMAN
• Ability to analyze and design physical databases and their definitions
• Experience with disaster recovery planning and testing
• Experience with installation, configuration and upgrades of vendor-supplied software, including contacting vendor on enhancements and problems
• Strong problem solving and conceptual thinking abilities
• Excellent written/verbal communication and documentation skills
• Able to work independently and deliver high quality results when given a set of requirements
• Experience with Oracle on Solaris

Skills Preferred

• Experience managing databases up to 10+ TB
• Knowledge of Shell Scripting
• Knowledge of EMC and NetApp SAN hardware
• Knowledge/Experience with database appliances
• Data guard, compression, backup tools

Experience Required

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science or Computer Systems Engineering; or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field appropriate for the assignment plus five years of experience.
• 1+ years’ experience with spatial models and algorithms
• 2-4 years Oracle Spatial programming experience
• 3-7 years Oracle SQL and PL/SQL programming experience
