Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in port operations, including hands on experience with import containers, import documentation, drayage, chassis and maintenance operations
  • Prior experience working in 3PL environment
  • Competency in Microsoft Office applications
  • 3+ years’ experience leading or supervising operational teams
  • Excellent geographical knowledge
  • Good Organizational, verbal and written skills a must.
  • Ability to focus and multi-task; Detail oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Port Manager is responsible for all aspects of assigned terminal, including customers, drivers, and commercial equipment
  • Manage and attendance
  • Lead and manage on-site staff members
  • Provide oversight for a fleet of drivers (mix of owner-operators and company drivers)
  • Ensure smooth movement of import containers from port to yard and final customer delivery
  • Oversee import documentation, drayage operations, chassis management, and maintenance coordination
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, maintenance protocols, and regulatory requirements
  • Monitor operational performance, resolve issues, and drive continuous improvement
  • Travel as needed to additional company locations (primarily TN and KY)
  • Monitor trailer pool; anticipate needs and arrange maintenance as needed
  • Coordinate vehicle repairs with Maintenance Department to minimize the down-time and insure availability of sufficient equipment to answer customers’ needs
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives
  • Direct the implementation of corporate policies and procedures
  • Actively coach and assist team members to ensure a common vision and team understanding of the critical role they play in TLD strategy and business practices
  • Insures safety guidelines are met and actively leads the “Safety first initiative” by example
  • Recommends actions to increase productivity or profitability.
  • Conducts investigations and audits as necessary
  • Any other responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time.

Description

Responsible for the overall leadership, management and performance of assigned Port Terminal. Schedules and dispatches drivers and commercial vehicles for conveyance of material while ensuring that the operation complies with a variety of federal and state laws that regulate the trucking and transportation industry, including the U.S. Department of Transportation's Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Operations Manager oversees the recruitment and on-boarding of new employees and compliance to all regularity standard for the import and drayage operations at Savannah GA & Charleston SC port locations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Working conditions
  • 50 % or more of shift will be out-of-doors
  • Subject to varied weather conditions, exhaust, fumes, dust, high noise level
