Job summary

Relativity Space is seeking a results-driven Industrial/Operations Engineer to join our Operations Engineering team in California. You will identify and implement improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and logistics using data analysis, simulations, and Lean Six Sigma methods.

You will develop capacity plans, optimize work centers, and design material flows, while building and maintaining dashboards to monitor performance across manufacturing and distribution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain, or related field.
• 5+ years of industrial engineering experience with capacity planning, work center optimization, and operations management.
• Proficiency in Lean, Six Sigma, and problem-solving methodologies (A3, 8D, root cause analysis).
• Data analysis using Excel and SQL; visualization with PowerBI; familiarity with 2D/3D design tools and simulation software like FlexSim.

• Identify, analyze, and support improvements in safety, quality, productivity, logistics, and ergonomics using data analysis, simulations, and Lean Six Sigma methods.
• Contribute to cross-functional teams to develop and implement operational standards, capacity plans, work center layouts, and material flow strategies.
• Develop and maintain operational metrics, dashboards, and audit tools to monitor performance across manufacturing and distribution areas.
• Create standard operating procedures and workflow designs that enhance workforce efficiency while ensuring safety and ergonomic standards.
• Execute system and process enhancements, including automation pilot projects and data integrity improvements, to support scalable operations.

About the Team:

Our Operations Engineering team is responsible for designing, optimizing, and scaling the systems that power Terran R’s manufacturing operations. We drive improvements in safety, quality, cost, and delivery by integrating data-informed insights, lean methodologies, and innovative solutions into every stage of production. By enabling efficient, reliable, and flexible manufacturing processes, we empower our operations to execute at the highest level, ensure our hardware meets demanding performance standards, and support the rapid growth of our production system.

About the Role:

• Execute approved system and process enhancements, including automation pilot projects and data integrity improvements, to support scalable operations

About You:

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain, or related field
• 5+ years of industrial engineering experience with developing expertise in capacity planning, work center optimization, and operations management; demonstrated ability to independently own defined projects
• Proficient in Lean, Six Sigma, and problem-solving methodologies (e.g., A3, 8D, root cause analysis)
• Skilled in data analysis using Excel and SQL; developing proficiency in visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI), 2D/3D design tools, and simulation software like FlexSim
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with ability to work effectively across technical and operations teams

Nice to have, not required:

• Experience with MRP/ERP systems, advanced analytics (e.g., machine learning, predictive modeling), or designing automated systems and data capture processes
• Familiarity with green field site development, requirements gathering, or high-complexity assembly-driven manufacturing environments
• Familiarity with MODAPTS, MOST, or other labor/time study methodologies and proven ability to tackle ill-defined problems with scalable solutions
