Job summary

Relativity Space is seeking an experienced Operations Engineer to optimize Terran R manufacturing systems, driving safety, quality, and efficiency through data-informed Lean methods.

You will lead cross-functional projects, develop metrics and SOPs, and advance automation pilots while ensuring scalable operations across production and distribution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain, or related field.
• 5+ years of industrial engineering experience with capacity planning and operations management.
• Proficient in Lean, Six Sigma, and problem-solving methodologies (A3, 8D, root cause).
• Data analysis using Excel and SQL; visualization with PowerBI; modeling with FlexSim.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Identify and improve safety, quality, productivity, logistics, and ergonomics using data and Lean methods.
• Collaborate across teams to develop standards, capacity plans, and material flow strategies.
• Develop operational metrics, dashboards, and audit tools for performance monitoring.
• Create SOPs and workflow designs to boost workforce efficiency and safety compliance.

About the Team:

Our Operations Engineering team is responsible for designing, optimizing, and scaling the systems that power Terran R’s manufacturing operations. We drive improvements in safety, quality, cost, and delivery by integrating data-informed insights, lean methodologies, and innovative solutions into every stage of production. By enabling efficient, reliable, and flexible manufacturing processes, we empower our operations to execute at the highest level, ensure our hardware meets demanding performance standards, and support the rapid growth of our production system.

About the Role:

• Identify, analyze, and support improvements in safety, quality, productivity, logistics, and ergonomics using data analysis, simulations, and Lean Six Sigma methods
• Contribute to cross-functional teams to develop and implement operational standards, capacity plans, work center layouts, and material flow strategies
• Develop and maintain operational metrics, dashboards, and audit tools to monitor performance across manufacturing and distribution areas
• Create standard operating procedures and workflow designs that enhance workforce efficiency while ensuring compliance with safety and ergonomic standards
• Execute approved system and process enhancements, including automation pilot projects and data integrity improvements, to support scalable operations

About You:

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Research, Supply Chain, or related field
• 5+ years of industrial engineering experience with developing expertise in capacity planning, work center optimization, and operations management; demonstrated ability to independently own defined projects
• Proficient in Lean, Six Sigma, and problem-solving methodologies (e.g., A3, 8D, root cause analysis)
• Skilled in data analysis using Excel and SQL; developing proficiency in visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI), 2D/3D design tools, and simulation software like FlexSim
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with ability to work effectively across technical and operations teams

Nice to have, not required:

• Experience with MRP/ERP systems, advanced analytics (e.g., machine learning, predictive modeling), or designing automated systems and data capture processes
• Familiarity with green field site development, requirements gathering, or high-complexity assembly-driven manufacturing environments
• Familiarity with MODAPTS, MOST, or other labor/time study methodologies and proven ability to tackle ill-defined problems with scalable solutions

Hiring Range:

$104,000 - $156,000 USD
