Job description

Overall Purpose:

The Sr. Network Security Engineer designs, deploys, and manages network security infrastructure, focusing on proxy, data loss prevention (DLP) solutions, and IDS/IPS. This role collaborates with audit and compliance teams and performs control testing to ensure regulatory compliance.

Essential Functions:
  1. Influences the design, implementation, and management of enterprise proxy and DLP solutions.
  2. Consults with governance, audit, and compliance teams to ensure security solutions meet regulatory and policy requirements.
  3. Develops or responds to requirements for tools to meet unmet needs.
  4. Develops, implements, and executes control tests to validate security measures.
  5. Monitors and maintains network security tools, resolving issues as needed.
  6. Ensures tools are running secure and stable code.
  7. Maintains detailed technical documentation.
  8. Contributes to security policies and procedures.
  9. Acts as primary and secondary on-call in rotation for 24x7 response.
  10. Mentors Network Security staff on business practices and technology.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's or 2-year degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Physical Science.
  2. At least 7 years of general IT experience.
  3. At least 5 years of IT security experience with tools like Netskope, Palo Alto, Proofpoint, and Microsoft.
  4. Proficiency in scripting languages such as bat, bash, python, PowerShell.
  5. Understanding of networking concepts including routing, NIDS, NAT, firewall administration.
  6. Experience with encryption technologies and security architectures.
  7. Experience with proxies, MFA, log management, vulnerability management.
  8. Experience in financial institutions and knowledge of regulations like PCI DSS, NYDFS, or SOX.
  9. Ability to work independently and in teams.
  10. Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
  11. Familiarity with Zero Trust and SASE frameworks.
  12. Background check and drug test required.
Preferred Qualifications:
  1. Proficiency in bash/PowerShell scripting (Level 3).
  2. Extensive experience with DLP.
  3. Certifications such as CISSP, Palo Alto PCNSE, Microsoft SC-200, or NCCSA.
  4. Unix/Windows admin experience (6-9 years).
  5. Knowledge of standards like PCI DSS, NIST, ISO 27001, NYDFS.
Physical Requirements:

Standard office environment, primarily sedentary, extensive computer use, occasional standing, walking, reaching, lifting up to 10 pounds. Visual acuity and communication skills necessary.

Must perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

In Phoenix, AZ/Chicago, IL: $145,000 - $180,000/year.

In New York, NY/San Francisco, CA: $160,000 - $200,000/year.

Includes discretionary incentives and benefits. Compensation varies based on multiple factors including experience, location, and certifications.
