Job description

Carnegie Mellon University’s Computing Services department is seeking a Sr. Network Operations Engineer to support the university’s strategic IT initiatives.

Responsibilities
  • Deploy, configure, manage, and monitor Local Area and Wide Area Networks, including routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, 802.11 wireless LANs, TCP/IP, Ethernet, SNMP, and VPN.
  • Monitor network security and connectivity, gather information to evaluate performance, identify user needs, and determine network requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and updated network documentation.
  • Respond to tier‑3 support requests regarding network issues, troubleshoot problems, and determine resolution.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computing Engineering or Computer Science.
  • 3–5 years of Network Administration experience.
  • 3–5 years of Network Deployment and Support experience.
  • 3–5 years of Network Security Administration experience.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a diverse group of internal and external partners at a high level of integrity.
Certifications
  • CCNP – Cisco Certified Network Professional.
