Job summary

TEKsystems in Anaheim, CA seeks an Expert Network Engineer for a contract-to-hire role. Primary duties are day-to-day operational tasks with occasional project work and limited travel to the Phoenix data center and branch locations.

The role requires strong routing, switching, and firewall skills, plus experience with Palo Alto, F5, and SD-WAN. Salary is hourly $60–75 with conversion to annual compensation for full-time potential.

Qualifications

• Must have 2 of the following certs: Azure, SolarWinds, Palo Alto, F5.
• Strong handson routing and switching with Cisco hardware.
• Experience with Palo Alto Firewalls and SD‑WAN.
• Willingness to travel to Phoenix data center and branches.

Responsibilities

• Handle day‑to‑day network engineering tasks and operational needs.
• Collaborate with Wescom Resources Group (WRG) on projects.
• Support new client onboarding and equipment upgrades at data centers/branches.

Bill Rate: 105 - 130/hr

Pay Rate: 60 - 75/hr (flex for the right candidate)

Conversion salary range: $116-$175k

Location: Anaheim, and should be able to travel to Phoenix(Data Center)

Key technical requirements and skills include

• Core Routing & Switching: Strong hands‑on experience with Cisco hardware, BGP, EIGRP, and deep network troubleshooting.
• Security & Edge: Experience with Palo Alto Firewalls and SD‑WAN architecture/implementation.
• Load Balancing & Design: F5 Local/Global Traffic Managers and high‑level architectural design skills.

The Network Engineer role is not focused on a specific, large‑scale project. Instead, the primary responsibility will be day‑to‑day tasks for a Network Engineer.

However, there are project‑related aspects:

• Involvement with Wescom Resources Group (WRG): The engineer will partner closely with WRG, which provides infrastructure to other credit unions. This means there might be additional projects for other credit unions that the engineer will be involved in as part of their day‑to‑day responsibilities, not as separate, additional projects.
• New Client Onboarding: The role may involve project‑related work for new client onboarding through WRG.
• Travel for Infrastructure Work: The role requires occasional travel (approximately once a quarter) to the data center in Phoenix or to branches for activities like new branch openings or equipment upgrades.

Essentially, the role is more about handling ongoing operational needs and contributing to smaller, integrated projects as part of the daily workflow, rather than leading or being dedicated to a single, defined project.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $75.00/hr.
