Overview:

Two Barrels is hiring a Sr. Network Data Center Engineer for $150,000/year. You will be a traditional company employee. This is a full-time 40 hour/week position with company benefits.

You'll architect and maintain a rock-solid network infrastructure that powers Proxmox virtualization, Ceph/SAN storage, and containerized environments—all while keeping security airtight and performance at its peak. From designing VLANs and firewalls to optimizing routing protocols and load balancers, you'll be the mastermind behind a resilient, scalable, and high-speed data center. Whether it's mitigating DDoS attacks, troubleshooting latency bottlenecks, or fine-tuning VPNs and HA networks, you're the go-to expert ensuring everything runs seamlessly. Responsibilities:

1. Design and implement scalable network architectures supporting virtualization, storage, and container environments.
2. Manage firewalls (iptables, pfSense, UFW, etc.) to secure virtualized environments.
3. Configure VLANs, subnets, and routing protocols like BGP and OSPF for network redundancy and security.
4. Set up and maintain Proxmox networking features such as bridged, NAT, and VXLAN.
5. Implement high-availability networking for hypervisors and storage clusters.
6. Deploy and maintain Ceph or SAN storage solutions for high-performance, redundant storage.
7. Troubleshoot latency issues, IOPS bottlenecks, and disk failures.
8. Optimize load balancers (HAProxy, Nginx, Traefik) for efficient traffic handling.
9. Secure hosting environments with DDoS mitigation, rate limiting, and WAFs (e.g., Cloudflare, ModSecurity).
10. Implement network monitoring tools like Zabbix, Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK for real-time performance tracking.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience with hypervisors such as Proxmox, VMware, KVM, Xen, or Hyper-V.
• 5+ years of experience in network engineering, data center operations, or cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with Ceph or SAN storage solutions (iSCSI, NFS, ZFS).
• Knowledge of containers and networking.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently or with a team.
• Passion for learning and improving infrastructure.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Understanding of Ceph storage architecture (OSDs, MONs, MDS, RADOS).
• Experience with iSCSI/NFS/ZFS SAN setups and tuning.
• Ability to troubleshoot HTTP performance, CDN, and caching issues.
• Experience configuring bridged, NAT, and VXLAN networking in hypervisors.
• Proficiency with automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, or SaltStack.
• Experience in DevOps or related technical fields.
• Extensive experience with BGP and data center networking.
• Experience with open-source networking platforms.
