JOB SUMMARY
We are hiring a Sr. Mobile Trailer Technician to support our growth. This is a dedicated on-site role, not for emergency roadside repairs. The technician will perform certified DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, light and advanced repairs, including aluminum and chem-lite work, trailer brakes, air lines, auxiliary pumps and engines, liftgates, brake chambers, welding, fabrication, and bodywork. The role involves working at customer sites, with a focus on advanced diagnostics and complex repair triage, acting as a lead and consultant on job sites.
DUTIES
- Follow all safety operating practices and procedures.
- Manage parts inventory and equipment on the company-issued service truck.
- Maintain and operate the service vehicle, including safety checks and pre-/post-trip inspections.
- Apply technical knowledge from training and experience to perform job duties.
- Engage effectively with clients to assess needs and resolve issues.
- Prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Uphold integrity, confidentiality, and professional standards.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, DOT inspections, and follow-up repairs in the field.
- Respond to dispatched service requests.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, welding equipment, and jacks.
- Document work and upload pictures using company devices and applications.
- Complete DOT and other documentation accurately and timely.
- Work independently, managing daily schedules.
- Maintain productivity within standard repair times.
- Procure parts from approved vendors as needed.
- Communicate with management for approvals and updates.
- Comply with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
- Participate in safety training and maintain safety protocols.
- Build and maintain good relationships with customers and vendors.
- Perform minor adjustments and repairs on trailer equipment and systems.
- Diagnose and test defective equipment, using appropriate instruments.
- Assist other technicians with diagnostics and inventory reconciliation.
- Support technical issues and advanced diagnostics for complex repairs.
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma/GED with 5 years’ related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Own and supply necessary hand tools.
- OEM training and certifications preferred.
- Complete required company training.
- Pass DOT-regulated background screening and physical, with a valid DOT medical card or equivalent.
- Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and a clean 3-year MVR review.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS
- ASE T6 (Electrical and Electronic Systems)
