Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport seeks a Sr Mobile Technician II to perform intermediate service and repair of tractors, trailers, chassis, containers or power equipment at customer sites or rail yards using the mobile service truck.

The role operates outside of the shop under routine supervision. Candidates should have hands-on experience with preventive maintenance, tire and brake work, electrical diagnostics, welding, and the ability to document work orders; DOT FHWA inspections preferred; willingness to

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in semi-tractor or semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
• Ability to supply your own basic tools or purchase through our toolbox purchase program
• Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
• Ability to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed

Responsibilities

• Perform intermediate-level preventive maintenance and repairs, including tire replacements, brake repairs, electrical diagnostics and basic structural repairs on tractor or trailer equipment
• Troubleshoot and repair ABS system
• Properly operate the mobile service truck and attend to truck inventory
• Assist with the onboarding and mentorship of tractor technician trainees
• Follow all safety requirements while onsite and at customer locations
• Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures
• Properly document damage to company equipment to estimate cost of repairs
• Demonstrate proficient use of a cutting torch and welding equipment to perform mid-level repairs on chassis, frames, and other equipment
• Patch holes in trailer or container side panels and roofs
• Perform annual AA trailer and FHWA brake inspections under direct supervision

Job Summary

As a Mobile Technician II, you are responsible for performing intermediate service and repair of J.B. Hunt tractors, trailers, chassis, containers or power equipment. Under routine supervision, this role works outside of the shop, servicing equipment at customer sites or rail yards using our mobile service truck.

Minimum Qualifications

• 18 years of age for equipment up to 10,000 lbs or 21 years of age for equipment over 10,000 lbs
• 2 years of experience in semi‑tractor or semi‑trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
• Clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt guidelines
• Ability to supply your own basic tools or purchase through our toolbox purchase program
• Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
• Ability to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed

Preferred Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• 2 years of experience in semi‑tractor or semi‑trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
• DOT certified in FHWA inspections and air brakes, with 1 year experience conducting inspections
• Welding certification
• Forklift certification and experience
• EPA section 608 certification and refrigeration license
• Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums
• Ability to manage multiple priorities
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
• Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively
• Can fulfill physical requirements: lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds
• Can wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)

Compensation

Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include skills, education, experience, geography, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
