Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Corporation seeks a Sr. Manager of Mechanical Design Engineering & Structural Integrity in Shelby, NC. You will lead a 10–12 person team within the Actuation Division, directing mechanical design, structural analyses, and technical documentation to deliver reliable actuation solutions for aerospace customers.

The role emphasizes governance, KPI-driven performance, and collaboration with PM, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality to meet budget and schedule commitments.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
• A master’s degree in engineering is preferred.
• 15-20 years of experience in managing complex mechanical design and analysis in aerospace/industrial industries.
• Experience managing an engineering department with solid line reporting.
• Experience communicating with customers on technical topics and project progress.
• Experience with bid & proposal creation (technical proposals, NRE estimates).
• Experience collaborating with Program Management, Manufacturing, Supply Chain and Quality.

Responsibilities

• Directly manage a team of ~10-12 engineers in mechanical design & structural integrity.
• Oversee conceptual design, gear design, and CAD modeling; design calculations & requirement validation.
• Lead MRB evaluation and disposition of non-conformances.
• Conduct structural integrity analyses (stress, thermal, vibration).
• Prepare technical documentation (drawings, SDRLs, reports).
• Ensure department governance and KPI development to drive execution.
