Job summary

Curtiss-Wright Corporation is seeking a Chief Engineer for Aerospace Actuation & Actuation Systems in Shelby, NC. You will provide technical direction across hydromechanical and electromechanical actuation, motion control, and related avionics, leading bid/proposal efforts and coordinating NPI/IRAD activities.

The role requires deep experience in aerospace actuation, systems engineering, and a track record of delivering on complex programs with customers and governance in a matrix environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, aerospace, or equivalent) required.
  • Master’s degree in engineering preferred.
  • 15-30 years of experience in aerospace actuation / flight controls required.
  • Experience leading communications with customers on technical topics, project progress and issue resolution.
  • Experience in bid & proposal creation (technical proposals, NRE estimates).
  • Experience evaluating/deriving requirements (flow down, decomposition, traceability, compliance).
  • Experience creating aerospace reliability analyses such as FMEA and FMECA.
  • Experience leading root cause / corrective action initiatives via 8D, A4, 5-Why, Ishikawa, or equivalent.
  • Track record delivering results on time and within budget.
  • Mentoring technical talent and governance enforcement.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical direction within a matrix organization on bids/proposals and NPI/IRAD projects.
  • Lead aerospace actuation design and system integration efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace certification and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with customers on technical topics and project progress.
  • Develop and refine governance and best practices for the team.
