Job summary

Job Overview

The Senior Manager, Lead Engineering Group (LEG) provides technical and strategic leadership to drive engineering innovation across our product teams and establish the talent bench strength for high-end technical capability growth. This role leads a team of highly technical engineers responsible for identifying emerging technology opportunities, addressing cross‑disciplinary technical challenges, and enabling the technologies readiness for successful new product development (NPD) and transition of next‑generation solutions for data center infrastructure. Working closely with Self‑Directed Business Teams (SBTs) and the CTO Office, the Senior Manager drives technical road‑mapping, oversees pathfinding initiatives in design and manufacturing, and ensures to bridge technical gaps and problem‑solving in NPD. The role also serves a key integrative function across product development engineering and SBTs, helping build a technical talent pipeline and cultivate principal‑level engineers with cross‑disciplinary skill sets to support future growth.

Job Requirements
Strategic Technology Leadership
  • Partner with Self‑directed Business Teams (SBTs) and the CTO organization to develop and execute strategic technology roadmaps aligned with SBT strategy.
  • Monitor industry and market trends within the data center connectivity ecosystem to identify emerging technologies, competitive developments, and evolving customer needs.
  • Identify technical capability gaps across disciplines and develop strategic plans to address them. Cross‑Organizational Engineering Integration
  • Serve as a technical intersection point across SBTs, the CTO organization, and the Corporate Technology Center (CTC) to ensure alignment on engineering priorities and technology investments.
  • Lead cross‑functional engineering initiatives that require coordination across multiple product teams or technology domains.
Pathfinding and Advanced Engineering
  • Lead pathfinding engineering projects focused on predicable simulation, design innovation and design for manufacturing (DFM).
  • Drive technical problem‑solving for complex engineering challenges that span multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Evaluate new technical approaches and solutions to mitigate strategic engineering risks.
Innovation to Product Transition
  • Ensure smooth transition of technologies and projects from Advanced Solutions/Technology (AST) initiatives into Product Development Engineering (PDE).
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to support the commercialization of new technologies and products.
Engineering Leadership and Best Practices
  • Lead a highly skilled team of engineers responsible for technical exploration, capability development, and cross‑team collaboration.
  • Establish and reinforce engineering best practices, development processes, and technical standards across SBTs.
  • Provide technical mentorship and leadership to engineers working across multiple product teams.
Matrix Leadership
  • Provide technical leadership to engineers from product teams who maintain dotted‑line reporting relationships into the Lead Engineering Group.
  • Foster collaboration and knowledge sharing across engineering teams to accelerate innovation and improve organizational effectiveness.
Engineering Talent Development
  • Create and implement a talent incubator program to cultivate engineers with multi-disciplinary capabilities for new gen development.
  • Establish development frameworks that enable engineers to build technical depth and cross‑product expertise for continuous innovation.
What Your Background Should Look Like
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related engineering discipline required
  • Master’s degree or advanced technical training preferred
Experience
  • 10+ years of engineering experience in product development, advanced engineering, or technology development
  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams and cross‑functional initiatives
  • Experience in high‑speed connectivity, cables, connectors, or data center infrastructure technologies strongly preferred
  • Experience managing complex engineering projects from concept through development and commercialization
Technical & Leadership Skills
  • Strong technical depth across multiple engineering disciplines relevant to connectivity products and manufacturing
  • Proven ability to develop and execute engineering and technology roadmaps
  • Strong problem‑solving capabilities and ability to address complex technical challenges
  • Experience working within matrixed organizations and leading cross‑functional engineering teams
  • Ability to identify technical risks and develop innovative mitigation strategies
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills with the ability to influence engineering, product, and executive stakeholders.
  • Passionate to mentor engineers and foster their capability growth.

Compensation
  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience: $168,400 – $252,400 (subject to change dependent on physical location)
  • Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. TE Connectivity reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the experience/qualification of the selected candidate as well as internal and external equity.
  • Total Compensation = Base Salary + Incentive(s) + Benefits
