The Senior Medical Assistant (MA) participates in providing patient care at the appropriate skill level, ensuring a standard of care that meets or exceeds that of a reasonably competent and knowledgeable Medical Assistant. They assist in training and orienting MA staff, with about 25% of their time dedicated to clinic initiatives that improve processes and develop leadership skills. The Senior MA performs all duties of a Medical Assistant within their scope of practice, under the supervision of a provider (TX) or physician (FL).

This role involves organizing the clinical environment and supporting patient care, including assisting physicians and nursing personnel, identifying patient needs, delivering quality customer service, and ensuring policy compliance, including infection control and confidentiality.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Perform duties at an expert level within the scope of practice, operate diagnostic equipment, perform wound care, administer non-intravenous medications, collect specimens, perform EKGs, and maintain equipment quality control.
  • Spend 25% of time on clinic metrics, projects, and initiatives to support workflow and process improvements.
  • Accurately document patient care in medical records and mentor other MAs.
  • Create a positive work environment and coordinate patient care as directed.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and organize exam and treatment rooms, supplies, and sterilization processes.
  • Support infection prevention and follow standard delegation of orders.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Current BLS certification
  • 3+ years as a certified MA or 5+ years combined experience (with 2+ years certified)
  • Proficiency in electronic health records, medical terminology, ICD-10, CPT coding
  • Ability to mentor others and react calmly in emergencies
  • Intermediate Excel skills and excellent communication/customer service skills
  • Flexibility and adaptability
  • Proof of immunity to certain diseases or vaccination records
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of lead or supervisory experience
  • Bilingual abilities
Physical & Mental Requirements:
  • Ability to lift, stand for long periods, operate equipment, and follow instructions
  • Occasional exposure to communicable diseases

The hourly range is $16.88 to $33.22, based on full-time employment and various factors. Benefits include comprehensive packages, incentive programs, stock purchase options, and 401k contributions.
