Description
I. Job Summary
A Master Scheduler in manufacturing is responsible for planning and coordinating the production process to ensure that products are manufactured on time, meet quality standards, and align with customer demand. Coordinate schedules and inventories to ensure efficient and effective operations
II. Minimum Qualifications Required
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials management, and production planning.
- Proficiency in using scheduling software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or other ERP systems).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with various teams.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and handle multiple competing deadlines.
- Attention to detail and ability to manage complex scheduling tasks.
- A degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field.
- Prior experience (typically 3-5 years) in production scheduling, planning, or manufacturing operations.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles or similar process improvement methodologies is a plus.

- This position requires a significant degree of autonomous decision making and discretion in the application of methods, policies, and procedures. The information used and generated in this position may in certain cases be confidential, proprietary, or for management use only, and discretion must be used.
- Internal relationships include daily contacts with the Director of Operations; frequent contact with individuals in Engineering, Quality, Production Control, Inventory Control, and members of the executive staff; and occasional contact with individuals in other departments.
IV. Essential Job Functions
- Production Scheduling:
- Monitor the master production schedule (MPS) based on demand forecasts, sales orders, and inventory levels.
- Ensure optimal production flow by balancing production capacity, resource utilization, and customer delivery requirements.
- Coordinate with production scheduling production, procurement, and inventory teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials, components, and labor.
- Capacity Planning:
- Analyze production capacity and resource requirements to meet the production schedule.
- Adjust production plans to accommodate changes in demand, unexpected downtime, or equipment issues.
- Work with the operations team to manage machine and labor capacity effectively.
- Inventory Management:
- Monitor inventory levels and work with the materials team to ensure materials are available without overstocking.
- Help maintain appropriate stock levels and avoid production delays due to material shortages.
- Forecasting and Demand Management:
- Collaborate with the sales, marketing, and customer service teams to understand demand forecasts and adjust production schedules accordingly.
- Review and adjust schedules based on changing customer priorities and market conditions.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to optimize the scheduling process and reduce lead times.
- Develop improvements and track performance metrics such as on-time delivery, production efficiency, and material usage to identify areas for improvement.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Serve as the point of contact between different departments (production, engineering, procurement, and logistics) to ensure alignment on production plans.
- Communicate schedule changes, production delays, and inventory updates to relevant stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving and Issue Resolution:
- Address production bottlenecks, delays, and resource constraints promptly.
- Resolve conflicts between competing priorities to maintain production efficiency and meet delivery deadlines.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure that all scheduling activities comply with safety, quality, and environmental standards.
