Job summary

Eaton Corporation’s ES AMER ARS division is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Fabrication COE. The role focuses on sheet metal fabrication, process optimization, and design-for-manufacturing reviews within the ARS Fab COE.

You will drive make-versus-buy decisions, capability enhancements, and equipment selections for FMS-enabled, highly automated fabrication environments. Collaboration with design and manufacturing teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, process development and capital management.

• Preferred: Mechanical or Industrial Engineering degree.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $97000 - $143000 a year.

What you’ll do:

Job Summary: The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will serve as a technical Sheet Metal fabrication expert supporting the development and operation of the ARS Fabrication Center of Excellence (Fab COE). This role will drive manufacturing process optimization, make-versus-buy decisions, design-for-manufacturing reviews, capacity optimization initiatives, and fabrication technology selection including Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS).

Job Responsibilities:

• Strong technical experience in managing Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS) in highly automated fabrication environments.
• Strong technical knowledge of lasers, punch presses, press brakes, panel benders. When to use, for which parts, and in what configurations.
• Familiarity with Trumpf, Prima Power, Amada (or equivalent OEMs) and their capabilities.
• Develop specifications for new fabrication equipment, flexible manufacturing systems (FMS) and automated part handling.
• Understanding of digital manufacturing platforms, MES integration, fabrication scheduling systems, and equipment connectivity. DMM (Aquilla Group) experience is a plus.
• Experience with fabrication material flow automation, production logistics systems, and lights-out manufacturing architectures.
• Strong knowledge of material properties for optimized manufacturing process development and equipment selection.
• General knowledge and experience with spot welding, powder coating, and painting
• Conduct Design For Manufacturing (DFM) reviews for fabricated components and assemblies.
• Support development and implementation of press brake and fabrication safety programs, including guarding and vision systems.
• Support new product launches with Manufacturing Launch Readiness (MLR) Processes at the site level.
• Work with design engineering to incorporate Design For Manufacturing (DFM) elements and design standards into product development.
• Identify skill gaps and provide/coordinate training and technical support to site manufacturing personnel.
• Support Lean, Six Sigma, and Pro Launch through the creation of Process Maps, Standard Work, Takt Times, Potential Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Design of Experiments, Control Plans, and Job Safety Analysis for production lines.
• Make vs buy analysis for part cost and quality optimization.
• Work with sites to generate maintenance and technology roadmaps to sustain and improve equipment efficiency while optimizing capital.
• Support development of standard work and PM plans for all related fabrication processes.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
• 5 years or more experience in manufacturing engineering, process development and capital management

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in metal pre-treatment and finishing preferred
• Experience in metal transformation: Stamping, Laser/punch, bending process and technologies
• Demonstrated problem-solving and leadership skills
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or greater preferred
