Job summary

Chart Industries in Tulsa, OK is seeking a Sr Manufacturing Engineer to lead complex planning for equipment layouts in plant, office, and production facilities. You will analyze workflows, improve efficiency, and prepare cost estimates for proposed projects.

The role requires a BS with 7+ years (or AS with 9+ years), strong data analysis, Kaizen experience, and ability to train staff. You will partner with planning, design, and vendors to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective manufacturing.

Qualifications

  • 4-year B.S. degree in a related field with 7+ years of experience.
  • 2-year A.S. degree in a related field with a minimum of 9 years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and evaluates manufacturing methods to eliminate waste, improve safety, enhance performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements & workflow and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arranges for purchase of equipment, materials or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Evaluates environmental issues and determines optimum solutions for related concerns and hazardous waste disposal. Selects waste disposal vendors and audits their operations for compliance with standards. Files EPA reports.
  • Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  • Develops, tracks and implements annual capital budget requirements.

Sr Manufacturing Engineer

Ensuring Chart’s Success…

Under general direction, responsible for complex planning activities related to equipment layouts in plant, office, and production facilities. Conducts studies that determine the most efficient sequence of operations and workflow and recommends methods for maximum utilization of production facilities and personnel. Prepares cost estimates for proposed projects and evaluates cost factors. Provides work leadership and training to lower level professional employees.

What Will You Do?

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements & workflow and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.

  • Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arranges for purchase of equipment, materials or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.

Your Physical Work Environment Will Require…

Frequently uses hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color evaluations and the ability to adjust focus. Employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit; occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Exposure to fumes or airborne particles and moderate to loud noise level. This position is classified as safety sensitive due to the use of heavy machinery, power tools, and exposure to potentially hazardous conditions; heightened awareness and adherence to all safety protocols is required.

Your Experience Should Be…
Education
  • 4‑year B.S. Degree in a related field with 7+ years of job‑related experience.
  • 2‑year A.S. Degree in a related field with a minimum of 9 years of job‑related experience.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with highly complex nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc).
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Preferred Qualifications
Education or Experience
  • Master's Degree in engineering.
  • Three or more years experience with welding equipment.
  • Experience leading or participating in Kaizen events.
Interpersonal Skills
  • A. Effectively facilitate meetings, train associates, lead Kaizen events, and execute plans.
  • B. Deal politely and professionally with customers and/or coworkers.
Technical Skills
  • Computer skills.
  • Mathematical skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical data into everyday language.
  • Ability to write in a clear and concise manner.
Other Skills
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize.
