Job summary

Chart Industries in Tulsa, OK is seeking a manufacturing engineer to develop and evaluate production methods, eliminate waste, enhance safety and performance, and resolve technical problems. You will analyze workforce utilization, plan layouts, and collaborate with planning, design staff and vendors to meet specifications and quality standards.

The role requires strong analytical, writing and presentation skills, experience with Kaizen, and the ability to apply statistical methods to forecast

What You’ll Do
  • Develop and evaluate manufacturing methods to eliminate waste, improve safety, enhance performance and identify opportunities for improvement; provide support in resolving technical problems.
  • Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements and workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  • Conferring with planning and design staff regarding product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
  • Conferring with vendors to determine product specifications and arranging purchase of equipment, materials or parts; evaluating products against specifications and quality standards.
  • Estimating production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  • Evaluating environmental issues to determine optimum solutions for related concerns and hazardous waste disposal; selecting waste disposal vendors, auditing their operations for compliance, and filing EPA reports.
  • Conferring with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  • Applying statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.
  • Developing, tracking and implementing annual capital budget requirements.
Physical Work Environment

The employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit; frequently uses hands to handle objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color evaluation and the ability to adjust focus. The employee may be occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and moderate to loud noise levels. This position is classified as safety sensitive.

Experience Required

Education

  • 4‑year BS Degree in a related field with 7 + years of job‑related experience.
  • 2‑year AS Degree in a related field with a minimum of 9 years of job‑related experience.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
  • Ability to deal with highly complex nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.).
  • Ability to manage a variety of abstract and concrete variables.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in engineering.
  • Three or more years of experience with welding equipment.
  • Experience leading or participating in Kaizen events.
Interpersonal & Technical Skills
  • Effectively facilitate meetings, train associates, lead Kaizen events and execute plans.
  • Deal politely and professionally with customers and/or coworkers.
  • Technical, computer and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical data into everyday language.
  • Ability to write clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to effectively plan and organize.
