Job summary

DoorDash is seeking a Senior Manager, Sort Network Cost & Capacity for the DoorDash Drive team. You will own capacity planning across the sort network, drive automation investments, lead real estate procurement, and negotiate 3PL contracts to diversify providers and reduce costs.

Reporting to the Director of Sort Operations & Network Strategy, you will partner with Finance, Real Estate, and Automation Engineering to align cost strategy with growth, while benefiting from a comprehensive benefits

  • Direct experience negotiating commercial contracts (3PL, real estate, or vendor).

About the Team

DoorDash Drive is our company's hyper-growth platform team serving restaurants, grocers and retailers across the United States, Canada and Australia. The Logistics team is responsible for driving the strategy, profitability, and operations across each vertical. In this fast-growing, high-energy environment, you'll drive innovation while maintaining a strong focus on quality and efficiency.

About the Role

This role owns the cost and capacity strategy of our sort network, partnering closely with the Sort Quality lead to balance efficiency and service. Reporting to the Director of Sort Operations & Network Strategy, this role is central to how we scale our sort footprint cost-effectively.

  • Own capacity planning — Build forward-looking capacity models across the sort network, forecasting volume growth against facility and automation throughput to prevent bottlenecks
  • Drive automation strategy — Identify and lead automation investments that reduce cost-per-unit while maintaining sort quality
  • Lead real estate procurement — Own site selection and lease negotiation for new sort facilities in partnership with Real Estate and Finance
  • Negotiate 3PL contracts — Lead commercial negotiations with 3PL partners to optimize cost, terms, and service levels
  • Diversify the 3PL network — Build a multi-provider strategy that reduces concentration risk and strengthens negotiating leverage
  • Partner cross-functionally — Work with Finance, Real Estate, Automation Engineering, and the Sort Quality lead to align cost strategy with service and growth targets

Compensation

The successful candidate’s starting pay will fall within the pay range listed below and is determined based on job-related factors including, but not limited to, skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. Base salary is localized according to an employee’s work location. Ranges are market-dependent and may be modified in the future.

In addition to base salary, the compensation for this role includes opportunities for equity grants.

See below for paid time off details:

  • For salaried roles: flexible paid time off/vacation, plus 80 hours of paid sick time per year.
  • For hourly roles: vacation accrued at about 1 hour for every 25.97 hours worked (e.g. about 6.7 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 3.4 hours/month if working 20 hours/week), and paid sick time accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours worked (e.g. about 5.8 hours/month if working 40 hours/week; about 2.9 hours/month if working 20 hours/week).

The national base pay range for this position within the United States, including Illinois and Colorado.

$170,000 - $250,000 USD
