Sr. Manager, Solutions Architect (Customer Engineering) (Remote)

Capital One has embarked on a bold journey to transform into a technology company within a complex, highly regulated industry. We have expanded our engineering team, migrated to the cloud, re-architected our applications and data platforms, and adopted machine learning at scale.

Our AI/ML capabilities are now leading in banking innovation (e.g., Eno). As we faced new challenges, we developed and tested new capabilities, open-sourced several tools (e.g., Cloud Custodian, Hygieia), and formed partnerships with other digital leaders.

Through this journey, we've created internal solutions tailored for a digital-first, cloud-first enterprise. The Capital One Software team is exploring how these solutions across cloud, data, governance, and applications can benefit other cloud-native or migrating companies.

The team seeks experienced, collaborative individuals who are technically proficient and can engage directly with customers to engineer, deliver, and implement solutions within their data ecosystems. Candidates should be credible in their technical expertise and skilled in shaping customer and solution-focused interactions. We value those passionate about learning, adopting new technologies, and creating value for customers. The ideal candidate will have experience as a Distinguished Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Technology Architect, with a proven record in solution implementation and managing customer relationships. Responsibilities:

1. Prepare and deliver technical engagements with enterprise customers, including envisioning solutions, designing architecture, and creating prototypes.
2. Lead architecture and design reviews focusing on business and technical requirements.
3. Analyze and document data, workflow, system requirements, and integrations.
4. Plan, manage, and execute customer projects.
5. Support architecture governance through subject matter expertise.
6. Collaborate with business, product, and technical teams to identify and prioritize system needs.
7. Travel to client sites as needed for implementation, relationship building, and stakeholder communication.
8. Enforce company policies on development methodology, security, change management, compliance, and HR.

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree
• Minimum 6 years in Software Engineering and Systems Architecture or Solution Design
• At least 2 years creating solutions architectures in public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in a relevant field
• Over 7 years in software engineering
• Over 5 years as a Solutions Architect in large organizations
• Experience with infrastructure, databases, networking, CI/CD tools (e.g., K8s, Docker, ECS)
• Experience architecting scalable systems in regulated environments
• Experience with data management platforms and cryptography
• Proven ability to influence and partner with technology leaders
• Mentoring experience
• Experience in regulated industries (HIPAA, PCI, Privacy)

Additional Information:

Capitol One will not sponsor employment authorization for this role. Salary ranges vary by location, with remote positions offering $204,900 - $233,800. The role may include performance incentives.
