Job summary

Job Summary

The Sr. Manager of Retail is responsible for setting the vision and tactical strategy for the US Retail business. As the P&L owner for the Retail channel, this leader is responsible for the financial management and operational execution of all aspects of the Retail business unit. As a distribution channel within the Direct-to-Consumer landscape, this leader will adopt an omni-channel point of view and work with the eCommerce and wholesale channels to create a frictionless journey that enables our fans to engage, transact, and receive service through whichever channel they choose. As an innovative brand, this leader will develop disruptive physical engagement strategies that push bounds of traditional retail and create immersive experiences that are worth sharing and earn fans. Lastly, this leader will inspire a diverse team of direct and indirect reports to follow a common vision, understand their financial and operational objectives and key results, and empower their leaders to drive excellence in all aspects of our execution.

Description
Essential Functions
  • Develop key financial and strategic inputs into the KEEN Inc. long range plan to drive strategic expansion and growth for our owned retail channel.
  • Responsible for building and managing the team structure and personnel make up for each retail location.
  • Responsible for all aspects of recruitment, management, and retention of retail staff and leaders.
  • Ownership of the P&L from top to bottom-line across each of our physical retail footprints.
  • Responsible for the forecasting, line planning, segmentation, and inventory management to achieve our financial and inventory objectives for retail. This includes partnering with cross-functional operations and merchandising teams to ensure consistency, proper flow, and turn management.
  • Oversight and management of visual merchandising plan and calendar to ensure key category, geography, and initiatives are being represented throughout our retail footprint. Heavy integration with individual retail store managers to plan their calendars and visual retail footprints.
  • Responsible for building the advertising and marketing plan to drive traffic through community partnerships, local activations, and marketing channel execution to meet financial objectives.
  • Partner closely with Digital Marketing and Brand Marketing teams to develop integrated campaign moments for the physical retail locations.
  • Identify key pain points and feedback from our fan base and develop a communication process to share insights with the rest of the organization.
  • In partnership with the DTC leadership team, develop cross-channel marketing, merchandising, acquisition/retention, and fan engagement experiences that can be measured and executed through our omni-channel footprint.
  • Drive an innovation agenda to concept new retail ideas and drive the operational tactics to prototype these concept stores toward a scalable model.
  • Develop processes and procedures for all aspects of retail operations, inventory management, integrated campaign planning and execution, and financial management of the business.
  • Create detailed reporting on financial results, operational KPIs, and speak to how the mechanics of the business are performing.
  • Manage overall payroll and labor management processes to ensure the right balance of staffing and financial performance metrics.
  • Create and execute detailed training and onboarding for all levels of retail staff. Organize regular retail summits to bring retail staff together with cross-functional teams to drive education, provide product insights, and understand overall brand strategy.
Qualifications
  • Seven (7) years retail experience required. Experience in footwear industry preferred.
  • Three (3) years of retail and personnel management. Experience withe managing distributed teams and driving to measurable results.

Any equivalent combination of experience and education which clearly indicates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute on a year for year basis.

  • Demonstrated ability to be a strong team player; must be able to maintain positive working relationships with other team members at all times.
  • Availability and flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and holiday shifts.
  • Ability to learn, retain, and communicate product knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Sound judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Understands the importance of and embraces diversity in the workplace.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Must be able to frequently use a ladder and/or stairs, bend and stoop to retrieve stock.
  • Must be able to stand and move about the store for full shifts (shifts are typically 8 hours).
  • Must have visual acuity and be able to use a point of sale system.

Base Salary:

$101,430.00 - $107,065.00 yearly

The salary range posted for this position represents the anticipated hiring range for this role. Offers are made within this range based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, education, internal equity, and market considerations. This is the hiring range for the position; compensation above the posted maximum is not typically available at the time of hire.

In-Person

This role is based in the Portland, OR area. It's expected to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of our Portland office and generally work on-site five days per week, with flexibility based on business and team needs.
