Job description

What We Do: Ascentage Pharma focuses on developing therapeutics that inhibit protein-protein interactions to restore apoptosis or programmed cell death. Our company has built a pipeline of eight clinical drug candidates, including the novel, highly potent Bcl-2 and dual Bcl-2/Bcl-xL inhibitors, as well as candidates aimed at IAP and MDM2-p53 pathways, and next-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitors. Ascentage Pharma is also the only company in the world with active clinical programs targeting all three known classes of key apoptosis regulators. Currently, Ascentage is conducting more than 30 Phase I/II clinical trials in the US, Australia, and China. Our core drug candidate HQP1351 was recently granted orphan drug and fast-track designations by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and a New Drug Application for HQP1351 has been submitted in China. APG-2575, another key drug candidate of the company, was recently granted orphan drug designation by the FDA.

Position Summary: Sr. Manager Clinical Program Management

In collaboration with Program Lead and senior line management, the Sr. Manager/Manager, Clinical Program Manager is responsible for overseeing and leading the successful delivery of projects that are in line with Ascentage Pharma’s portfolio strategy. The Sr. Manager/Manager, Clinical Program Manager will be responsible for:

  • Organizing regular and ad hoc cross-functional meetings and maintaining shared program documents.
  • Monitoring program progress against timelines, budget, and quality requirements of the projects.
  • Facilitating effective, proactive, and open communications across the project team to achieve transparency and clarity of program goals, progress, and issues.
  • Proactively engaging team members and stakeholders to effectively execute deliverables and enable sound decision-making.
  • Identifying and communicating issues impacting team performance and project deliverables, escalating appropriately when needed.

Program Executions:

  • Working collaboratively with program team members, key stakeholders, and functional area leaders to establish project scope, timeline, and required resources, as well as develop and maintain an integrated development plan.
  • Assisting senior program manager to drive the program strategy by planning and tracking activities, such as drug supply and formulation development, preclinical work for indication expansion and patient selection strategies, supportive clinical pharmacology, and toxicology studies.
  • Facilitating team’s objective setting, prioritization, and tracking to ensure adherence to the development strategy and operational plan.
  • Ensuring that the project/program deliverables are achieved, issues identified, managed, and resolved.
  • Developing and maintaining risk/issue registers, decisions, and action logs.

Manage organizational initiatives and external partnerships:

  • Participating with various internal task forces, sub-teams or broader cross-functional organizational initiatives.
  • Managing external partnerships with other Pharmaceutical/Biotech companies or academic institutions when needed.

Position Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

Experience:

  • Senior Project Manager, Clinical Program Manager will require 3-5 years of experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry (or where relevant a biomedical research organization).
  • Manager, Clinical Program Manager will require 1-3 years of experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry (or where relevant a biomedical research organization).
  • Solid scientific background in Biology, Chemistry or Pharmaceutical Sciences.
  • Good project management skills, capable of managing multiple projects with respect to priorities and self-management.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for bridging between scientific and business participants, for negotiating timelines, and for effective international collaboration.
  • Excellent verbal communication and expert in written communications.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite applications, particularly Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Willing to learn and take initiatives with flexibility.

Education:

  • Minimal MS degree in chemistry, life sciences, and related field required. Ph.D. or Pharm D preferred.

Location:

The ideal candidate would reside in the Washington, DC, Maryland (including Baltimore), and Northern Virginia area; however, for the right candidate, this position can be remote.

Travel:

Travel for this role will be limited to 10%. If remote, a once quarterly home office visit (two days).
