Job summary

Grocery Outlet seeks a Senior Inventory Accounting Manager to oversee month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and internal control monitoring. This role reports to the Director of Corporate Accounting and requires a strong aptitude for learning complex accounting concepts.

The ideal candidate has a CPA, 8+ years in private/public accounting, and deep knowledge of US GAAP. You will lead a team, ensure SOX compliance, mentor staff, and collaborate with external auditors and business

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• CPA certification required.
• 8+ years of combined experience in private industry and public accounting.
• Strong knowledge of current US GAAP.
• Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving ability.
• Excellent communication and business partnering skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead month-end and quarter-end close activities with balance sheet reconciliations and analyses.
• Reconcile and analyze general ledger activity via flux analyses and guide the team to timely completion.
• Improve account reconciliations and related financial statement deliverables.
• Ensure SOX compliance within ownership areas.
• Coordinate with external auditors on questions and requests.
• Develop and document accounting policies to improve efficiency and control.
• Mentor team members and manage performance and career development.
• Supervise and develop staff, including performance management.
• Support cross-functional partners to resolve discrepancies and drive timely resolutions.
• Lead special projects as needed.

About the Role:

Senior Inventory Accounting Manager will help manage the month-end close process, reconciliation review process, and internal control monitoring process. The preferred candidate should have the aptitude and willingness for learning complex accounting concepts. This role reports to the Director of Corporate Accounting.

Responsibilities Include:

• Lead and manage the month-end and quarter-end close activities including timely and thorough balance sheet reconciliations, financial analysis, and trial balance review.
• Reconcile and analyze general ledger activity through a detailed flux analysis and manage leading the team to timely and accurate completion of these analytics.
• Lead the continuous improvement of account reconciliations and enhance deliverables pertaining to month-end close and financial statement preparation.
• Ensure compliance with all SOX controls under your areas of responsibility.
• Work directly with outside audit firms on audit questions and requests in a timely manner.
• Support the development of key accounting policies and procedures to increase efficiency and provide appropriate control.
• Support the growth and development of the team through hands on mentoring on an individualized basis, performance management, and career development.
• Supervision of team, including performance management, career development, and mentoring.
• Support the independent operators, including providing timely and thorough responses.
• Support key business partners in bridging any discrepancies between expectations and actuals with clear communication and timely resolution.
• Manage and complete special projects, as necessary.

About the Pay:

• Base Salary Range: $150,000 – $170,000

About You:

• Bachelor’s Degree
• CPA
• 8+ years of combined experience in private industry and public accounting
• Strong knowledge of current US GAAP
• Detail-oriented and problem-solving skills
• Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and business partnering skills with demonstrated ability to work cross functionally and at various levels within a company
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines and operate with a sense of urgency
• Ability to quickly prioritize multiple deliverables in a fast-paced environment
