Position overview

The Senior Manager, Individual Giving is a results-driven key member of the PAN Foundation’s Development team. In this senior-level position, you will play a pivotal role in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding mission stakeholders, high-net-worth individual donors, organizational entities, and others to financially support the organization's mission. You will lead efforts to grow and strengthen our individual giving program, ensuring long-term financial sustainability and engagement from our donor base.

Responsibilities

Individual Donor Program Strategy and Execution

  • Develops and implements a comprehensive strategy to engage, cultivate, and solicit major gifts from individual donors at various giving levels, including the following sources and initiatives:

  • Direct mail solicitations

  • High net-worth donors

  • Donor Advised Funds

  • Workplace giving

  • Family offices

  • Digital giving campaigns

  • Working with Marketing/Communications and other consultants, create compelling direct mail content pieces and strategic cadence to maximize solicitation efforts.

  • Identifies, qualifies, and manages a portfolio of high-potential major gift prospects.

  • Works closely with senior leadership and board members to build strong relationships with key donors and prospects.

  • Designs and leads annual giving campaigns, including direct mail, online giving, and targeted appeals, to enhance donor participation and retention.

  • Raises awareness about the organization's charitable initiatives.

  • Maintains current knowledge of best practices in corporate giving and philanthropy.

Donor Cultivation and Stewardship

  • Builds and nurtures meaningful relationships with existing and potential donors to ensure continued support.

  • Creates personalized stewardship plans for major donors, ensuring that they feel valued and engaged with the impact of their contributions.

  • Oversees the development and execution of donor recognition programs, ensuring appropriate acknowledgment for gifts and contributions.

Fundraising Operations and Reporting

  • Oversees donor data management, tracking, and reporting through the organization’s CRM system, which will be selected and managed by this position.

  • Provides regular reports to the Chief Growth and Strategy Officer on fundraising progress, key metrics, and emerging donor trends.

  • Manages the individual giving budget, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and the effective allocation of resources.

Team Leadership and Collaboration

  • Supervises and mentors corporate staff to gain internal support for individual giving initiatives, and provides guidance to others on the Development team, including, but not limited to, any direct reports.

  • Collaborates with other departments, including communications and programs, to ensure a cohesive and compelling fundraising strategy.

  • Partners with the Development and Marketing/Communications team to execute fundraising events and other initiatives aimed at growing the individual donor pipeline.

Strategic Partnerships and Networking

  • Cultivates relationships with community leaders, influencers, and peer organizations to expand the donor network.

  • Represents the organization at relevant events and networking opportunities, advocating for the mission and building relationships with potential donors.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications or related field.

Work experience

  • A minimum of 5 – 7 years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising, with a minimum of a three-year track record of fundraising for unrestricted donations with an annual total above $1 million. 1-3 years supervisory experience also preferred.

Required Skills

  • Proven track record of securing major gifts from individual donors, including experience in identifying, cultivating, and stewarding donors at all levels.

  • Strong understanding of donor relations, fundraising strategies, and best practices in nonprofit development.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate the organization's mission and impact persuasively.

  • Experience working with CRM systems and managing donor data.

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

  • A proactive, solutions-oriented approach and a team player who can work collaboratively across departments.

  • Passion for PAN’s mission and values.

Preferred Skills

  • Advanced degree in nonprofit management or a related field.

  • Experience working with high-net-worth individuals or institutional funders.

  • Familiarity with planned giving or capital campaign strategies.

Travel

  • 10-15%
