Invariant LLC is seeking a Senior Manager, Government Relations to join our oversight and investigations team in Washington, DC. You will work with colleagues to gain insights into policymaking, build a Hill-facing network, and contribute to client deliverables.

Qualifications

• 6–10 years on Capitol Hill and/or government affairs organizations.
• Experience with House Democrats and relationships with Democratic members/staff preferred.
• Experience conducting congressional investigations: research, document review, inquiries, hearings prep.
• J.D. preferred; law firm or governmental legal experience a plus.
• Deep understanding of committee operations and oversight.
• Strong researcher and writer; synthesize records into actionable insights.
• Sound judgment and discretion with sensitive information.
• Excellent organizational skills for multiple projects and deadlines.
• Able to perform in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Strong communication; able to manage up and down.

Invariant, a bipartisan government relations and communications firm providing strategic advice to companies, trade associations, non-profits, and individuals, seeks a Senior Manager, Government Relations, with strong ties to Democratic members to join our growing oversight and investigations team. You’ll work directly with team members to gain valuable insights into the policymaking process and develop your network on the Hill and with Washington stakeholders.

What you’ll do

• Manage preparation of call/meeting agendas and facilitates internal follow-up for deliverables
• Responsible for the success of key deliverables while managing resources and timelines
• Constructively contributes to proposal and pitch development including drafting and acting as a coordinator
• Lead small internal teams, with limited supervision, and provide actionable feedback to foster the professional development of junior staff
• Act as subject matter expert on one or more policy issue(s).
• Spot issues and disseminate timely information to clients and become an expert on the issues.
• Build and maintain strong relationships to support networking, new business opportunities, and events.
• Identify and submit valuable new business leads to practice group.

Who you are

• 6-10 years of experience on Capitol Hill and/or relevant government affairs organizations.
• Experience working for House Democrats and established relationships with Democratic members and staff strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated experience conducting congressional investigations, including research, document review, drafting investigative inquiries, and preparing for hearings and interviews. Experience with investigations involving both private sector entities and government agencies or programs preferred.
• J.D. preferred. Relevant law firm or governmental legal experience is a plus but not required.
• Deep understanding of congressional committee operations, oversight procedures, and the political dynamics that shape investigations.
• Strong researcher and writer with the ability to synthesize complex records, identify significant facts, and translate findings into clear, actionable advice.
• Sound judgment and discretion in handling sensitive information and high-pressure matters.
• Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines with a focus on detail and precision.
• Comfortable and adaptive when working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Solid communication skills and ability to manage both up and down.

The target salary range for this role is $125,000 - $175,000 USD annually. The base salary will be determined based on skills, experience, and market data.
