Job Description

The Sr. Design Manager is responsible for providing strategic leadership in developing, maintaining, and managing Global Architectural Design Standards and prototype documentation for Raising Cane’s restaurants. This role manages relationships with consultants and vendors, applying architecture, engineering, and interior design guidelines across all phases of restaurant design.

Your Impact & Responsibilities

1. Standardize approved conceptual designs for rollout, including design details, FF&E, and implementation tools.
2. Lead change management for design standards and quarterly updates to guidelines, scope of work, templates, drawings, specifications, and cut sheets.
3. Report progress, leveraging analytics and lessons learned to improve standards.
4. Organize project teams, resources, and workflows for the design process.
5. Set team priorities, encourage teamwork, and drive results.
6. Manage complex cross-functional projects to ensure timely completion with standardization and efficiency.
7. Support necessary changes to improve costs, effectiveness, and implementation processes.
8. Guide the delivery of complete, approved conceptual designs.
9. Lead process improvements in cost, efficiency, and effectiveness through analytics.
10. Adapt base design drawings for prototypes and regional variations.
11. Review and correct full contract document packages.
12. Develop and implement training programs for external consultants.
13. Identify and onboard prototype master architects for base and regional designs.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in architecture, design, standards, or project management.
• 5+ years managing construction plans and specifications for retail/restaurant projects.
• Experience with architectural/site plan design, including cost and quality control.
• Experience in the restaurant or multi-unit retail industry.
• Experience working on both owner and consultant sides.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, InDesign, SketchUp, Photoshop is a plus.
• Microsoft Office proficiency: Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Word.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
• Results-driven, analytical, with strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Willing to work full-time in Plano, TX, and travel up to 20%.
• Professional licensure: USGBC member, LEED accreditation is a plus.
• Bachelor’s degree in architecture, civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
