Job summary

Ambu in Columbia, MD or Remote is seeking a Senior Manager, Data Architecture & Platform Engineering to lead the design, development, and optimization of enterprise data architecture and platform capabilities. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or a related field.

• Minimum 3 years of leadership experience managing technical teams or enterprise data initiatives.
• Experience designing, implementing, and supporting cloud-based data platforms and enterprise data solutions.
• Experience developing data integration processes, ETL pipelines, and large-scale data environments.
• Strong knowledge of data architecture, data modeling, database design, and governance principles.

Job Title: Senior Manager, Data Architecture & Platform Engineering

Reports To: Vice President of Commercial Operations

Location: Columbia, MD or Remote

Position Summary

The Sr. Manager, Data Architecture & Platform Engineering leads the design, development, and optimization of Ambu's enterprise data architecture and platform capabilities. This role is responsible for building secure, scalable, and reliable data infrastructure that supports analytics, reporting, AI, and business applications while partnering with business and technology stakeholders to deliver sustainable, future-ready solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of the organization's data architecture and platform capabilities.

Data Architecture

• Design enterprise data architecture standards, frameworks, and best practices.
• Define scalable data models that support current and future business needs.
• Ensure architectural alignment across systems, platforms, and integrations.

Data Modeling & Integration

• Develop and maintain data models that enable efficient reporting, analytics, and operational processes.
• Oversee system integrations and data movement across internal and external platforms.
• Ensure data consistency, reliability, and accessibility throughout the enterprise.

Platform Design & Security

• Architect secure cloud-based platforms with appropriate governance, compliance, and security controls.
• Partner with cybersecurity and infrastructure teams to maintain platform resilience and performance.
• Establish standards for platform scalability, monitoring, and operational excellence.

ETL / Data Pipelines

• Design and manage robust ETL processes and modern data pipelines.
• Improve automation, data reliability, and operational efficiency across data workflows.
• Support real-time and batch processing requirements for business-critical applications.

Solution Development & Engineering

• Build and support cloud infrastructure, APIs, integrations, AI solutions, and data products.
• Evaluate and implement emerging technologies that enhance data capabilities and business outcomes.
• Lead technical delivery efforts while ensuring maintainability, scalability, and long-term platform health.

Qualifications

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in data architecture, data engineering, platform engineering, or related technology roles.
• Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience managing technical teams, projects, or enterprise data initiatives.
• Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and supporting cloud-based data platforms and enterprise data solutions.
• Experience developing and managing data integration processes, ETL pipelines, and large-scale data environments.
• Strong knowledge of data architecture, data modeling, database design, and data governance principles.
• Experience partnering with business stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Understanding data security, privacy, compliance and cybersecurity best practices within enterprise environments.

Preferred

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with modern cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience supporting analytics, business intelligence, AI, and machine learning initiatives.
• Knowledge of API development, systems integration, and enterprise application architecture.
• Experience implementing data governance frameworks and master data management strategies.
• Relevant industry certifications in cloud technologies, data engineering, architecture, or cybersecurity.
• Experience working in a regulated industry such as healthcare, medical devices, life sciences, or pharmaceuticals.
• Proven ability to lead technology transformation initiatives and build scalable data platforms from the ground up.
