The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Public Safety seeks a Sr. Manager, Crime Prevention & Investigations to provide enterprise-wide leadership over crime prevention, investigations, and security risk management across the Medical Campus and UHealth system.

The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Public Safety has an exciting opportunity for a full-time Sr. Manager, Crime Prevention & Investigations.

Core Job Summary:

The Sr. Manager, Crime Prevention & Investigations provides leadership and enterprise-wide oversight of crime prevention, investigations, security risk management, threat assessment, and security intelligence activities across the Medical Campus and broader UHealth system. The position develops, implements, and evaluates programs, initiatives, and strategies designed to promote a safe and secure environment while supporting organizational risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, and operational objectives. This role collaborates extensively with internal and external stakeholders to identify security concerns, assess risks, oversee complex investigations, and develop proactive solutions to reduce criminal activity and security-related vulnerabilities.

Core Responsibilities

• Provides enterprise oversight of complex and sensitive Public Safety investigations and case management activities across the Medical Campus and broader UHealth system.
• Establishes departmental goals, objectives, priorities, and performance measures aligned with the strategic direction and operational needs of the organization.
• Directs and evaluates the performance of assigned personnel, including establishing expectations, providing coaching and feedback, addressing performance concerns, and supporting professional development.
• Collaborates with senior leadership and internal stakeholders to identify operational needs, resolve complex issues, develop solutions, and support organizational objectives.
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with internal departments, external organizations, regulatory agencies, law enforcement, and other stakeholders to support departmental and organizational goals.
• Leads and participates in strategic initiatives, special projects, and cross-functional committees that support organizational priorities and departmental objectives.

Core Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Safety, Security Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Seven (7) or more years of progressively responsible experience in security, public safety, law enforcement, criminal investigations, crime prevention, risk management, or a related field, including demonstrated leadership, supervisory, or management experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes

• Knowledge of business and management principles.
• Knowledge of crime prevention, security operations, investigations, threat assessment, and risk management principles.
• Ability to direct, manage, implement, and evaluate department operations.
• Ability to establish department goals, and objectives that support the strategic plan.
• Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others.
• Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and train others.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, recommendations, and presentations for leadership.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with senior leadership, employees, law enforcement agencies, healthcare partners, and other internal and external stakeholders.
• Any relevant education, certifications and/or work experience may be considered.
