Job summary

A boutique-sized diversified downstream energy company in Tyler, Texas is seeking a Sr Manager for Capital Projects & Turnaround. This role involves managing all phases of refinery turnarounds, leading turnaround teams, and developing budgets. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED, along with substantial management experience and knowledge of industrial engineering and safety standards. Qualifications

• 2+ years of management experience in a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in turnaround processes and projects.
• Working knowledge of industrial engineering, safety, and IHS standards and procedures.
• Experience estimating, planning, coordinating and executing shutdowns.

Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of turnarounds for the refinery.
• Lead core turnaround teams and ensure effective work coordination.
• Develop and maintain turnaround schedules and budgets.
• Leads TA Steering team to align operations, projects, maintenance and EHS functions.
• Develops and maintains turnaround schedules and budgets.
• Coordinates site integration and resource issues through Operations and TA Process Leader.
• Controls the cost and timing of the turnaround to meet business and site needs.
• Defines work list by freeze date; enforces administrative controls for add‑ons after freeze date.
• Develops critical path, integrates operations, projects and maintenance activities, and optimizes.
• Estimates cost of TA based on scoped work and adjusts plans to meet constraints.
• Manages issues during execution to achieve all business goals.
• Identifies opportunities for frequency extension between turnarounds.
• Prepares and communicates closure reports.
• Ensures plans are updated and archived for future TA’s.
• Ensures that all established procedures, standards and policies are incorporated within all TA activities.
• Walks job site on a regular basis (30%), wearing PPE and may be required to climb ladders or scaffolding.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Manages all phases of turnarounds, expense projects and shut‑downs from planning, scheduling, execution, and closeout for the refinery.
• Leads the refinery’s turnaround teams on assigned projects.
• Leads core TA team to ensure effective work coordination, planning, scheduling, cost management and materials management.
• Leads TA Steering team to align operations, projects, maintenance and EHS functions.

• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Two (2) or more years of management experience (Required).
• Four (4) or more years of experience in a related field (Required).
• Working knowledge of industrial engineering, safety, and IHS standards and procedures; knowledge of major turnarounds and turnaround project processes.
• Experience in estimating, planning, coordinating and executing shutdowns.
