Job summary

Northside Hospital is seeking an internal consultant to drive process and operations improvement across management, staff, and physicians. You will design and implement changes, develop project plans, and monitor performance using KPIs.

The role requires proactive project management, strong communication, and the ability to collaborate with multiple departments in a complex healthcare environment in Atlanta.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Health Systems Engineering, Healthcare or Business Administration, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
  • Three (3) years experience in management engineering, industrial engineering, operations improvement, healthcare consulting, or healthcare supervision.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word. Ability to use Microsoft Access, Project and Visio.
  • Previous experience in team process development, facilitation, and education.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes all aspects of hospital management and operations for potential improvement opportunities. Designs and recommends processes, systems, procedures and operational changes to increase efficiency and effectiveness. Establishes operational performance measurements and monitors trends in key performance indicators to evaluate efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Works with management, departmental and interdepartmental staff in identifying operational problems and inefficiencies, developing and evaluating alternatives and improvements, selecting the optimal improvement, and establishing implementation plans.
  • Researches and collects comparative and benchmark information from external sources, including VHA, Health Care Advisory Board, and others for use by hospital management teams.
  • Through prescribed frameworks, facilitates organizational change by helping prepare personnel to accept and actively participate in new systems through communication and educational workshops.
  • Develops project workplans and timelines based on the project objectives and customer needs. Oversees the work of other consultants and project staff in meeting project objectives and achieving satisfactory project outcomes.
  • Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury/accident to Manager.

Education

Serves as an internal consultant to hospital management, staff, and physicians in the areas of process and operations improvement, industry best practice research, performance monitoring, resource allocation, and statistical analysis. This position requires an individual that is a self‑starter, has the ability to proactively manage projects and multiple priorities, works both collaboratively and autonomously with minimal supervision on broadly defined assignments, demonstrates tact and diplomacy in situations of conflict and controversy, and demonstrates excellent communication and presentation skills. In addition, this position requires an individual who possess the skills required to develop detailed project plans to include project tasks, timelines, resources and status; build relationships with client departments and effectively negotiate project objectives; identify and resolve issues through cross‑functional teams; analyze, develop, and report recommendations to enhance department operations; design and effectively implement change to achieve project goals.
