Sr. Maintenance Technician

The Sr. Maintenance Technician ensures equipment uptime through timely troubleshooting and repair of all equipment failures. Shares knowledge of all production equipment with the maintenance team and operators. Acts as a subject matter expert on equipment such as injection molders, blow molders, fillers/cappers, labelers, case packers, conveyors, palletizers, and stretch wrappers. Performs troubleshooting and repair of facilities and auxiliary equipment like chillers, air compressors, Reverse Osmosis, and other water filtration systems. Collaborates with Maintenance Technicians, machine Operators, Supervisors, and Managers to resolve mechanical issues. Develops and implements best practices aligned with Niagara’s maintenance strategies, promotes continuous improvement, and assists in training.

Essential Functions

  • Enforce safety and good manufacturing practices plant-wide.
  • Train and lead operators, mechanics, and supervisors on technical procedures related to high-speed bottle manufacturing and packaging.
  • Develop and execute projects involving continuous improvement, upgrades, and problem resolution.
  • Identify machine problems rapidly to minimize downtime, conduct root cause analysis.
  • Partner with other Sr. Maintenance Technicians to resolve cross-functional problems.
  • Use software systems to analyze issues and improve throughput performance.
  • Overhaul equipment during planned downtime to restore to like-new condition.
  • Transfer knowledge to team members on operating and troubleshooting bottling and injection equipment, including blow molding, filling, labeling, and injection molding machines.
  • Create SOPs for troubleshooting and upload to BDA system; ensure machine reliability.
  • Maintain regular attendance and on-call availability to ensure equipment uptime.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 6 years of experience in a maintenance manufacturing environment.
  • 6 years in the specific maintenance position.
  • 4 years managing people/projects.

  • Effective communication skills across departments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Ability to read electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Skilled in using shop equipment and precision measuring tools.
  • Willing to be a technical leader and trainer.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in maintenance manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with packaging or bottling equipment like Krones, Husky, Sidel, etc.
  • Experience leading and developing others.
  • Experience with process improvements.
  • Skilled in fabrication, electrical systems, and troubleshooting drives, motors, controllers, and communication systems.
Core Competencies

Education
  • Minimum: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferred: Associate’s Degree in related manufacturing field.
Certification/License

Not required but preferred.
