Job summary

SDK is seeking a full-time Maintenance Technician to join our team in Ashburn, Virginia. The role involves addressing various maintenance issues, supporting junior technicians, and delivering exceptional service to residents. Job description

SDK is seeking a full-time skilled and knowledgeable Maintenance Technician to join our committed team dedicated to ensuring the safety and excellent condition of our 630-unit multifamily property.

Embracing the SDK philosophy, our maintenance technicians are committed to providing residents with exceptional service, emphasizing respect, understanding, and comfort in every home they service.

This is an onsite position based in Ashburn, Virginia. On-call hours and addressing inclement weather needs are mandatory for this position.

About the Position
As one of our senior maintenance technicians, you will…
  • Model behavior that is aligned with SDK values when interacting with anyone associated with SDK.
  • Support, guide and assist with training junior maintenance team members.
  • Complete service issues related to boiler/HVAC, plumbing, and electrical repairs.
  • Ensure preventive and regularly scheduled maintenance procedures are completed.
  • Ensure all procedures related to apartment unit turnovers are completed in a timely manner.
  • Install, replace or repair damaged or new equipment and appliances.
  • Complete carpentry, tiling and painting as needed.
  • Be on-call to address urgent resident matters after regular work hours.
  • Aim to resolve service requests within 24 hours, as much as possible, following established work order procedures; communicate effectively with the team on progress and roadblocks.
  • Maintain accurate records regarding preventative maintenance, service requests, apartment make‑ready status, and work in progress items.
  • Collaborate with the property team members to maintain a safe community.
  • When needed, be responsible for routine grounds and property maintenance, including but not limited to, trash removal, general cleaning and snow removal.
  • Address ad hoc projects as assigned.
About Your Professional Background & Skills
  • A minimum of 5 – 7 years of progressive building maintenance experience, preferably in a multifamily environment.
  • Related licenses strongly preferred (e.g., EPA/HVAC)
  • Demonstrated expertise in general plumbing, electrical, carpentry, locksmithing, painting, dry‑wall repair, and snow removal.
  • Exceptional customer service, communication, interpersonal and follow‑through skills.
  • Available for on‑call emergency services on an as‑needed basis.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
  • Possess stellar references and stable work history.
  • Must be able to work with any employer in the US without any restrictions whatsoever.

The gross hourly pay range for this position is between $27 - $30. The actual compensation will be based on factors unique to the candidate, including direct years of experience and depth of knowledge.
