Job summary

Miami University is seeking a Sr Maintenance/Repair Technician (Emergency Tech) for the Maintenance Group. This regular, full-time role operates on a 4 day/10 hour schedule: Wednesday through Saturday, 7:00 pm – 5:00 am, with hourly pay of 17.95.

Responsibilities include mechanical repairs, plumbing, electrical work, and preventive maintenance across university buildings. Qualifications include at least six months of post-high-school mechanical training and two years of repair/maintenance

• Requires six months of mechanical/trade training beyond high school and two years of repair/maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Requires driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Performs repair work on university facilities.
• Replaces tiles and repairs doors and windows.
• Unstops sinks and other plumbing fixtures; repairs steam valves.
• Replaces motors/pumps on heating/AC equipment and repairs electrical switches.
• Reviews work orders; determines proper repair procedures and estimates time/materials.
• Plans/executes a preventive maintenance program; maintains tools and equipment.

Job Description Summary

Performs a variety of mechanical tasks related to performing general maintenance on university buildings. Hours for this 4 day, 10 hour position are Wednesday through Saturday, 7:00 pm to 5:00 am.

Essential Duties

• Performs repair work
• replaces tile
• repairs doors and window
• unstops sinks and other plumbing fixtures
• repairs steam valves
• replaces motors and pumps on heating/air conditioning equipment
• repairs electric switches and receptacles Reviews work orders and investigates site
• determines proper repair procedures
• estimates time and materials needed Serves as informational resource to staff Plans and conducts a comprehensive preventive maintenance program Cleans and maintains tools and equipment May assist in setting up of stages, rigging, curtains, and lighting system for special events

Minimum Qualifications

• Requires six months of mechanical/trade training beyond high school and two years of repair/maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience Requires driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated two or more years of experience in troubleshooting, diagnostics and repairs in multiple maintenance trade areas.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of carpentry, electricity, and plumbing repair and maintenance
• Knowledge of mechanical repair Ability to read schematics

Working Conditions: Continuous standing or walking, frequent climbing, and lifting of materials weighing up to 75 pounds. Somewhat disagreeable working conditions. Some exposure to unpleasant elements which are particularly disagreeable.
