Role Description

The Sr Loan Officer is a full‑time, on‑site role based in Omaha, NE. This position is responsible for originating, structuring, and managing small business loans, from initial inquiry through closing and ongoing monitoring. Day‑to‑day activities include meeting with prospective and existing borrowers, analyzing financial statements and cash flow, conducting credit and risk assessments, and preparing underwriting packages and recommendations. The Sr Loan Officer will guide applicants through the loan process, provide responsive customer service, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely loan decisions and compliance with lending policies. The role also involves outreach to community partners, participation in training or informational events, and contributing to NEF's mission of supporting diverse small businesses.

Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience as a Loan Officer or in a similar commercial or small business lending role, with strong loan origination skills.
  • Solid foundation in Finance, including financial statement analysis, cash-flow assessment, and knowledge of lending and credit principles.
  • Underwriting skills with the ability to evaluate risk, structure loans appropriately, and prepare clear, well-supported credit recommendations.
  • Strong Customer Service orientation, with proven ability to communicate clearly, build relationships, and support borrowers throughout the lending process.
  • Understanding of small business Loan Origination processes, documentation requirements, and compliance considerations.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience working with underserved or diverse communities and familiarity with community development or CDFI lending is beneficial.
  • Proficiency with standard office software and loan management systems; strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on‑site in Omaha, NE, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively with a mission‑driven team.
